My therapist often reminds me of the importance of self care and I am committing to reminding my future clients as well. Self care is saying no sometimes! We went kinda off the books and chose two godmothers for Amelia. Katie Kallenbach, one of my very best friends who put up with the chaos of living with me in college and whom I’ve known since middle school, and Tara Barth, whom William and I have grown closer to in the last few years even though I danced at the same studio as her for years throughout childhood (and parts of my adulthood, I plan to keep dancing again soon). These two women are amazing examples for Amelia, they are strong and independent and both oh so smart. But what matters is that they will lead her to Christ. I purchased some lactation snacks and supplements in hope of increasing my supply. Right now it takes me a full 8 hour shift to get only about 5-6 oz for the next day at daycare. It will only get her through one to two bottles which she needs at least 3 at daycare. When I don’t work its even harder as she usually pretty much drains my entire supply while nursing at home. In short, breastfeeding is HARD WORK. And this email almost brought me to tears. I still count and matter and I’m doing my best to give my daughter the food she deserves. Of course after nursing right now she even needs formula so I feel guilty and it SUCKS. I wish I was enough for my daughter. I’ve consulted with lactation specialists, basically told me to pump round the clock. That’s so so hard guys. Especially at night. I will keep doing my best Amelia, and to Diana, I’m sorry mommy didn’t try harder the first time but know I would do anything to change that.
