oh how CLEVER she thought she was. escaping today’s lesson and trading it in for a lovely day out in the meadows by the rolling hills. a much better idea. but she had to move fast. sliding around the palace, she quickly broke out into a run down the grand marble steps, sun filtering through the pillars while she ran past important figures and children playing.
the capitol was so much more beautiful to look at OUTSIDE. the young princess stopping and taking a moment to look at it all. the open markets and people talking before hurrying along again. she dressed down, moving quick enough so no one could see her face. she was ALMOST there. until guards were spotted. at the cutting end of where the city met the wilderness. dashing behind a building, she pressed her back against the wall, breaths heavy while watching intently while they circled. they were out looking for her already?
such a peaceful, quiet place seemed impossible to exist in a galaxy at war. pristine smiles and unhindered contentment littered every face on the streets. it was an environment where he stood out, instead keeping to the secluded and rarely traveled backstreets to avoid prying eyes.
eyes scanned every face that passed, searching for one in particular. the planet’s young monarch who — as he was lead to believe — wandered away from the safe confines of her castle often. The planet had nothing in the way of a military, leaning on others to protect them. it made for an easy ransom.
a flash of dark hair caught his eye, a young girl that fit the description given to him almost perfectly. she watched the street, attention centered on the searching guards. it had to be her.
a cautious glance was cast to his surroundings before he moved toward her, careful with his movements so as not to catch her attention. barely an arm’s length was left between them when he spoke, words carrying a lilt “ Hello princess. ” hands moved quickly, one wrapping around her arm and the other over her mouth to stop the inevitable cries for help. “ Stay quiet and I promise no harm will come to you. ”
