“I am often in pain and I fear that it will get worse. I need to sharpen every possible weapon against it, but even more so against the fear, or the fear of fear, which is what is so debilitating. And I want to learn how to do that while there is still time for learning in some state before desperation. Desperation. Reckless through despair.”

“‘Is this made with last year’s rain-water too?’ asked Daiyu. Miaoyu smiled disdainfully. ‘Can you really be so vulgar as not even to tell the difference? This is snow I gathered from plum-blossom five years ago while staying in Curly Fragrance Nunnery on Mount Xuanmu. I managed to fill that whole dark blue porcelain pot, but it seemed too precious to use, so I’ve kept it buried in the earth all these years, not opening it till this summer. Today is only the second time I’ve used it. Surely you can taste the difference? How could last year’s rain-water be as light and pure as this?’”

The Ruth Asawa stamps that USPS issued in 2020 really impressed me. Perfectly harmonious and elegant stamp design to honor a uniquely brilliant artist who was ahead of her time. Here’s the full pane, plus a no-frills FDC I made. https://thestampforum.boards.net/thread/8946/modern-art-on-stamps

"The Seneca title of this sculpture translates to: "The Great Law Puts the Matter Straight." With its time-honored message of health, power and justice, The Great Law of Peace unites the Six Nations of the Hodinöhsö:ni' (the Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, Mohawk and Tuscarora). The Ever Growing Tree wampum belt wrapping the figure in this sculpture symbolizes the Great Law. Artist Norman Jimerson wants the viewer to understand its central importance-it is the Great Law that allows the Hodinöhsö:ni' to "stand straight.""
