This is a song born out of love for my motherland Nigeria. My dream is for this song to inspire Nigerians beyond just the national celebrations like our Independence day, but to our everyday lives, and that we constantly and consciously represent Nigeria positively and be the rays of light, beaming towards a brighter tomorrow. Doesn't matter where or who you are, so long as you're Nigerian, #RaiseTheFlag. Bless!

Raise The Flag: Purpose Behind The Music

Its very easy to blame and complain, but rather, take the path less travelled and ask yourself "Is there any way I can help? Is there anything I can do to bring about change?"...I'm not saying go construct a bridge, but we all have talents and abilities which I believe we can properly utilize to inspire hope and bring about change in our immediate environment, or sphere of influence. Negativity has seeped into the mindsets of most people, and it shows in our speech when Nigeria is the topic of discussion, as well as our actions. Many times I've witnessed people grow increasingly bitter as they complain about all the ills in the country. It is quite clear that a lot has gone wrong already. But blaming won't change anything...complaining won't change anything...however, stepping out to do something could. Think about the great names like Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa. They started somewhere. You can start something too.

Even if its a poem, or a design, or a painting, or a song (like me), in our small seemingly insignificant ways, lets step out together and move this country forward. A line in the song says "...this remains our motherland, no matter where we find ourselves...". Its cool if you raise your flag and wave it from side to side while I'm performing at some national event (amen hallelujur!). But beyond that, in doing these little things, you really are raising the flag. America wasn't built in a day, change will not be instantaneous, but do your thing knowing that it will help take Nigeria a lil step closer to where it should be, because YOU MATTER.
