YAWP! I got my DPS tattoo!
of course it was dedicated to the film that, since watching it in high school 14-ish years ago, has continued to push me ever forward into living deliberately and in gratitude of the poets who question, wander, and inspire.
This time, I AM the book of poetry!
((Added a little ume-blossom on the left as a token from the area in Japan, where I now live one of my verses.))
Todd spends the rest of his life loving fearlessly and shamelessly. He gives his time, care and comfort to anyone who needs it - and especially those who don't show that they need it. He's hyper-aware of all that is felt and all that is and isn't shared. He's aware that there is not enough love and care in the world, so he does his best to give and give and give and give all the leaking love that's been built up and breaking to the brim for years. Because someone put it there, and he's not there anymore to give it to.
But, when he sees someone really truly appreciate Todd's help, it's /almost/ enough to make him forget everything else.
Todd knows there's not enough love shown to people anymore. He needs it too.
But in this case, where he can't receive it for himself, he makes up for it by giving of himself.
Hey did you know that Mr Keatingās wife is actually dead and sheās waiting for him in England cause sheās lying in the grave where he will once be buried? Hey did you know that he returned to Welton right after cause that was his only home other than his wife? Hey did you know that after the movie both his homes were destroyed and for the first time he had nowhere to go? Yeah cause he told me.
Guys I fear we dont talk about my headcanon where modern Meeks had an emo phase in middle school enough
he also was a victim of the emo-to-weeb pipeline
ik that meeks and pitts would've weebed out to anime but i am now thinking about the others...
bc charlie dalton told me HIMSELF that he's a one piece kid.
((OHSHC is the yaoi awakening for knox))
Just watched a very sinister adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream (at the very Shakespeare's Globe!!!) and Puck was not our usual childlike prankster, but portrayed as a twisted, mentally deranged clown (who you gradually gain some sympathy for).
Now thinking about Neil in that role, harnessing the kind of suppressed misery and anger under Oberon's (father-like) oppression. Neil in a Dark Knight's Joker type role...
Acting could've been such a healthy outlet for him. And he would've been good. He would've been really good.
The poets trying to gain some purchase on Todd's person is such a great moment, but specificly Knox trying desperately to drape himself over Todd's back means so much to me. Btw. The attempt to gather all of someone into your arms, the irrational desire to protect them from whatever's hurting them by way of physically shielding them. But there's nothing to protect from, no solution to this kind of pain. There's no fixing it.
Neil āI donāt belong to anyoneā Perry when his first act of independence was his last
Charlie āYou donāt own meā Dalton when he refused to sign Keatingās expulsion papers
Todd āIāve given all I can, itās not enoughā Anderson when despite standing up for Keating he still lost two of his closest friends and it didnāt bring them back
Richard āSo for once in my life let me get what I wantā Cameron when he couldnāt stand up for his friend because it meant ruining his future
Knox āIf I could save time in a bottleā Overstreet when he spent his last moments with Neil watching Chris
Steven āMom Iām tiredā Meeks when he walked back from Nolanās office and cried
Gerard āNot a lot just foreverā Pitts when he would give everything to sit in the cave with the Poets again while smoking pipes
am i the only person who headcanons charlie to be half or part italian
Headcanon?! That's an Italian BOY!!!

Thank you Steven Meeks and Charlie for inventing radio and funky yte boy music respectively
playing the part of the dutiful son.
Schulman and Weir said to "play the part of the dutiful son,"
but Robert Sean Leonard heard "beautiful son" and they ran with it

Part 1: here
Meeks: give me a break! by Michael Clifford and Waterparks
Pitts: Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now by The Smiths
Cameron: Some Nights by Fun.
and cameron COULD use some friends for a change
Languages I think the Dead Poets would have learned *aside from Latin*
Source: Trust me bro
Neil: Italian, French, maybe archaic Greek (big drama guy)
Todd: Archaic Greek, Polish, Russian (literature reasons)
Pitts: Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic (he's the coolest actually)
Knox: Hebrew (family reasons), French, German
Charlie: Spanish, French, Swahili, Arabic OR Farsi (he wants the seccy languages)
Meeks: Japanese, Spanish, Mandarin, German (he's on wanikani RN)
Cameron: Economic Mandarin..., German, Spanish, Dutch (self explanatory)
In my mind, they furthered their linguistic education
āCharlie is bi!ā āNo Charlie is straight!!ā
If you asked Charlie Dalton what his sexuality was, heād do that fuckass little smirk and go āwouldnāt you like to know, weather boy?ā and walk away and never answer your question.
[he doesn't know either, but he's walking away to figure it out/forget about it rn]
DPS First Encounters HCs
So *a friend* and I decided to come up with HCs of how each of them met and became friends. Take it or leave it this is what we thought:
Neil:
-That kid thatās been at the school since the b e g i n n i n g
-Has always been a natural-born leader
-Everyone (as in: the entire class)ās first friend
Charlie:
-Came to Welton in 3rd grade.
-Forced to come because his parentsā expectations
-Met Neil and initially hated him because he was always soā¦good?
-Became friends through one stupid comment in class
-Bonded over stupid things at first (like rocks) and then bonded over personal things (like their parents and their shared enthusiasm)
-Had secret hideouts and knew every corner of Welton
Meeks:
-Came to Welton in 6th grade
-Started topping a lot of classes, namely science
-Charlie bullied Meeks for being a nerd (verbally)
-Meeks found out about Charlieās parents and decided to help him study (otherwise his parents would kill him for bad grades)
-Now Charlie āflattersā Meeks to make up for the childhood bullying
Knox:
-Also came in 6th grade
-Just wanted to play soccer
-A total loner. He was too tall and quiet but would explode with words when someone approached him
-Accidentally stumbled upon one of Charlie/Neilās hideouts
-āsorry, I got lostā
-Neil escorts him back to main campus, talking as they walk
-Knox immediately takes this as friendship and thinks Neil is his best friend
-Tries to approach Neil as much as his tall small body will let him
-āKnoxiousā made by Charlie after finding out how much he talks when heās passionate
Pitts:
-Came to Welton in 7th grade
-That kid that has been all over the world
-Knows a few other languages
-Everyone liked him because he was super nice and tried to show them some exotic lifestyles from around the world
-Welton says ānOā
-Didnāt like the strict policies at Welton
-Always put in the back row next to Knox because of height
-Started applying himself to his work and started topping science
-Pitts and Meeks started growing competetive
-Welton liked their competition because it fuelled their grades
-Forced as lab partners and roommates
-One time the competition got too real and the science lab had to be evacuated.
-They laughed and became best friends. The rest is history
Cameron:
-Pittsā family friend. Pittsā parents recommended Welton to Cameronās parents
-Pittsā parents recommended the haircut to Cameronās parents
-Didnāt want to leave his old friends behind
-Miserable when coming to Welton at 8th grade
-was cool before he decided that academics was his entire life
-Admired Neilās leadership
-Admired Pitts because he was always nice to him, even when Cameron was being a Richard
Thanks Friends
