Stimming is great, ok? However, stimming is something that many neurodivergent people genuinely need to do to concentrate. For example, occasionally at random moments I must flap my hands. It's an impulse, and it helps me concentrate. Stimming is not an aesthetic. I am not calling out stimboards and the people who make them. Stimboards are great. However, not everyone stims using pretty slime and shiny crystals. Some people stim by rocking back and forth, or twisting their hair, or even scratching their skin. Stimming is not just *~aesthetic~* NT-approved gifs on Tumblr. Also, while this is an unpopular opinion, if you do not need to stim, please do not bring stim toys to school. I cannot stress this enough. To really see why this is so bad, I present to you Fidget Cubes. Now, Fidget Cubes are great. However, when enough people bring them to school, the staff starts to notice. Because the amount of people just fucking around with them is usually much more than the amount that genuinely need them, they get banned, harming those who need Fidget Cubes to concentrate. A similar situation is the slime epidemic, which we've all seen. A rebuttal to this might be "Just let everyone stim!!!". This is good in concept, don't get me wrong. However, I think it's best to first let ND people be able to stim in public without being ridiculed. Final note: just because you are ND does not mean you are exempt from any of this. Stimming and being ND are not mutually inclusive. It's like comparing everyone who hates capitalism to Communists. This is really unorganized, but it's just some thoughts I've had for a while.
