we could have so many more intelligent conversations about disability if people would read theory or listen to theory or un/learn the very recent history of ableism baked into the very fabric of society instead of having knee jerk reactions in the comments of Instagram
#‘gene editing prevents disability! therefore it is good!’ ah but that is still using the medical model#that is the root of the problem im afraid. hyper individualized medical panopticons will not save us#making the world easier for disabled people who are alive now and realising that there is no normal human body is also key#before we get into trying to standardize the human body by valueing certain characteristics#because what will those be? what recent events will decide that?
