A prophecy is foretold of Zeus’s tyranny coming to an end at the fangs and claws of twins born from the sands and of blood. They will set the wrongs right and bring forth the true Grecian God King.
Zeus tries to prevent this from happening but cannot as in the dead of winter, under a Cheshire Moon, twins are born to King Riaghan (a vampire) and Sekhmet, the Egyptian Goddess of War.
A daughter of the sands.

Many years later, when the twins are fully grown demigods themselves and have returned to Egypt, Zeus strikes at Markos and Syrina through his follower Marikh; the cruel chieftain of what would become the present day Cirque de Nocturne. Marikh and his colleagues hired raiders to come and lay a raid upon their “little” caravan, knowing that Markos and Syrina would be out hunting.
The raiders slaughtered those much of the caravan, including Markos’s wife and their unborn child. Upon learning that it had been no accident, Markos and Syrina started a revolution what the Cirque would later call The Rebellion; for ten long years Markos and Syrina’s forces battled against Marikh and his followers, until it finally came to an end with the last stroke of Markos’s blade.
Marikh was no more.
Markos avenged his wife and unborn child, allowing their souls to rest in peace in the Field of Reeds along with all of those who had suffered greatly at the Big 4’s hands. Upon being crowned the Vampire King, he then swore, with his blade held high and glaring at the skies that Zeus and his cronies will pay for all of the hurt that he had put so many through. He and Syrina would set right the wrongs, keep the world balanced for all Humans and Nonhumans, til Armageddon comes.
With Syrina and eventually Grimm by his side, together they tore down the old ways of the caravan, and rebuilt it to play the role that they had set out to do. Siegfried, a ghoul who was known for his cruelty swore revenge against the twins, as did Kormos swear that he will make Syrina pay for tainting his creation, Grimm.
