Ky huffed walking through the Bray Tech faculty. He didn’t stray far from the functioning areas. He sighed looking at his data pad scrolling through various links. “Attempt to sync to Ishtar Collect data base, attempt number.... 49.” Ky groaned leaning against his wall slowly sliding down. It wasn’t safe to leave, but he would rather like to interact with someone other then his old Boss. Clovis was great, but blunt and not exactly known for his deeper human connection. Ky perked up hearing the sounds of movement and a voice chattering. “Hello?”
clovisbraythefirst:
Those questions did make Hannu interested in what sort of trick the Vex could be playing, but they were not this cunning. At least, not without some sort of outside aid to devise a plan like this. There were plenty of possibilities that presented itself and each sounding just as plausible as the last. Time travel is a play thing to the Vex, so that is definitely a hypothesis that ran around in his mind, but the questions are: Why Kuiper ?? Why now ??
“The traveler did move, yes. And from the timestamps you have me, last it was on Titan. Now, it’s on Earth.” Hannu stops in front of barricaded door. It is covered with all sorts of tarps and boxes to make it look like there is no way around it, but that is the idea. He steps forward and moves the tarp upward and begins to walk inside but not before turning towards Ky and signaling the other to follow him.
“Hurry, before the Fallen hear your questions a mile away.” Normally he would care much about chatter in the open, but with a dazed human with no idea as to what is going on, well, he would make for easy pickings. “Watch where you step and your head, there are plenty of exposed edges of metal to fend off unwanted guests.” Once through the other side of the makeshift tunnel, there was plenty of space between the barricade and doorway to let one move about for a moment. Hannu holds the tarp on the other side so Kuiper can see the exit.
Ky’s heart race, he wanted to run back to his desk, to attempt to break the simulation. This was all to real, the Traveler was theorized to stop at earth last. To mark the end of a journey and the start of something new for humanity. He followed Hannu with no real thought, sitting inside the shelter his mind processing. “Earth... What... Earth was suppose to be... It couldn’t have finished Titian!!” He flinched looking at the exit, “Fallen? What is a fallen?” He looked lost, he had never heard of that. Everything was different yet the same, his mind racked for a reason. This wasn’t a Vex simulation, they weren’t creative enough to generate a new creature. They could only pull from files of pre existing creatures they had studied. It’s why they hung around human habitats alot, trying to catalog all their data. So, this couldn’t be a simulation, their human replicas were hollow, empty. Atleast that was the running theory and he would cling to it for his sanity. Still a question rose, one that he had been asked by Dr. Bray when he had come here first. Where something came from, or when? When. Such a heavy word and his body shook sitting on the cold metal floor. When was always the focus of Vex. Never where or why, but when. “Hannu, what.... What’s the date?”

A Stich In Time (AU)
AU with @clovisbraythefirst but open to all!! Ky or Kupier S. Rigel hails from Golden Age Venus. He grew up on Venus and during a time of peace and prosperity. His youth spent running around Vex ruins and knowing only the knowledge gifted from the traveler. He grew up in the Ishtar Academy and spent much of his time exposed Vex tech like many of his friends. In order to attend the Graduate program offered by the Academy, he presented a paper focused on Radiolarian and how it helped maintain the Vex’s inner workings even though they haven’t moved in what seemed to be centuries. The paper caught the attention of Dr. Clovis Bray who approached Ky with a chance to do an Internship on Europa at his company while he attended his classes. The pay that could be put towards his classes and chance to work with a leading company that focused on the progression of science drew Ky into working for Dr. Bray. His time on Europa made him home sick, his father sent him off with a sprit bloom. On occasions his father also sent him a crate of snacks that could only be bought on Venus. Ky became wrapped up on making Vex technology easier to interface with humans, he barely registered when it back fires. One of his most proud inventions is the small assistant he made to look and act like the Harpies he had seen as a kid. The small Harpy is synced to his Data pad and uploads his voice notes and video recordings to his data pad so Ky can review them. It was infact during an routine reassembling of a vex core that casued Ky to jump to current times. He finds himself thrown into a new time, the Traveler has just reawaken, the Darkness has settled into Europa. Vex roam across the planets, His home and family long dead. he can barely understand what anyone is saying and he finds himself hanging out closer to his boss more then in the past. Can Ky adjust? How did he end up so far into the future? Should he trust these new bearers of light or the man that first brought him to Europa? Come meet Ky, a living relic of time long forgotten.
clovisbraythefirst:
The man is just as talkative and hyperactive as he remembered. Clovis is barely able to respond accordingly to everything that happened in that short amount of time !! Yet that train of thought is finally broken when the sound of shattering glass reminds him of his place. Clovis steps behind him with a calm pace before walking in front of him. He rests his hands together behind his back and looks down at the nervous employee with a slight look of pity. He was there, once. It must be strange to experience this as a human versus an AI.
“You’re just as chatty as I remember you being. Good to see things haven’t changed one bit with you.” Clovis would never admit it was refreshing to see someone familiar that was not planning to shoot him first and ask questions never. “Dr.Bray isn’t present at the moment, I’m afraid.” He is ever thankful for the change in voice this Exo frame gave him. It allows for easier disguises when poking about the facility. “I’m Hannu. Yes, the same assistant AI that worked ever closely to Clovis.” His posture relaxes as he eyes the man again. The question throws him but he still continues to play along. He could very well be a simulation as it asks if it is inside of one. After all, tricks like these were not unheard of from the Vex.
Hannu turns around to face towards Creation. “It’s far too dangerous to traverse these halls by yourself, Kuiper. If you’ll allow me to escort you to a safer region, I will be more than willing to answer any and all questions.” Hannu looks over his shoulder and puts his helmet back on. The plan is to take him to a room that Clovis would have the upper hand yet seem like an empty shell of boxes and fired bullets. He will not risk falling into a trap after evading the Vex for so long.
Ky blinked his brain taking a moment to process the information he had been given. “Hannu??” He echoed rushing up to keep pace with the other. Dangerous? The words echoed in his mind, what had happened? His mind racked for any sounds of alarm or something! Nothing came to mind, he remembered rolling out of bed. Putting on a lecture being broadcasted by one of his professors. They had been on the topic of Vex and how even with time marching forward, their cores were perfectly in tact. He was watching it on the data pad and eating on his way to his little station. Surrounded by older folks, very few from Venus. Though most from his home were already in steady careers with Ishtar Collective. Ky had even been in talks with them, but... Dr. Bray had been very receptive to his papers. Focusing on the units themselves. “Hannu....” Ky’s steps started too slow, taking in the signs of aging the more they walked away from his area. “How.... What happened? I was just watching a lecture this morning.... Did... Did the traveler move again?” He walked away from the other, he could feel the chill of Europa cut through his coat and his mind wondered if he could go back and pull his old college sweater on. His fingers brushed over a bullet hole in the wall and his stomach lurched. Maybe it was just all a simulation. It had to be! “I mean... How can this whole place feel so empty in a couple of hours?? The others were just breaking off to go get something to eat.” He commented his steps returning to keeping close to the AI. Perhaps the only familar thing in this place. “I hope this is a simulation.” He muttered in his native tongue.

The Exo stares hard at the man. It is difficult to get a good facial recognition on him with the helmet on and the badge is still half hidden behind a fold of the lab coat. The name rings a bell too but before he can think over it, the badge is revealed !! Clovis steps forward, removing his helmet and clipping it magnetically to his belt. He keeps eye contact with the other as he reaches out towards the I.D. badge. Looking down at the badge, he registers the face, name, employee number and runs a search through the servers. Within seconds he is given information about this young man
Oh. It’s the man who went missing during a new study with Vex tech straight from their home world. How on Earth…
Clovis puts a hand in front of Kupier to stop him from moving passed him. Using the same hand, he lowers the datapad to grab the attention of the man again. “Mr.Rigel, what day and year is it ??” If his hypothesis is true, he would need to ease the missing man into current events. There is no way that this could be him, though. He looks the exact same the day he went missing. No records of logging out of his workplace, no update on his schedule, hell, the I.D. badge still had him clocked in after hours. Thankfully, Clovis did manually signed him out that week otherwise that would have been one hefty paycheck.
The frames were not close by to cause alarm and Clovis made sure of it. If he is indeed talking to that very employee, he needs to know everything that happened. Still, it wasn’t safe to be talking in such an open area. Clovis is well equipped but Kuiper had a pen and in this hostile world, it is certainly not mightier than the sword.
Ky blinked looking at the other, the removed helmet made his eyes brighten. “Oh my gosh look at you!!” He stuffed the data pad under his arm looking at the exo. It was amazing, this model was much farther along than the one that followed Dr. Bray around. “Amazing! So close to vex... Mmmm, does it use radiolarian?” Ky muttered to himself his mind barely registering the the question. He blinked rattling off the current date, but the year was much further back then what it was currently. “ Ahahah, Don’t tell me I’ve been working for a few days? Some of my friends I was conversing with before I came here mentioned that could happen! You work so hard and just pop your three days off. They joked that Vex tech will do that to you. Just mess with your perception of time.” He wanted to reach out and touch the exo’s face. It was so advance, “Ahhh, I’m sorry, I’m just really amazed, I think things would progress this fast! I know Dr. Bray is brilliant, but I didn’t think he’d have material to make one of his robotic assistants so advance! Much less make defense models. I wondered if he had contracts with Earth’s military.” His stomach growld, churring “Ah, if its alright. I really do need to head to the canteen and get a snack and check on my Spirit Bloom. Did you just need a date check?” He started to duck under the arm trying to get away. He was so tired and sleeping against the helmet of a vex unit never made a good pillow. He also need to check a few things. If this was a simulation then perhaps hashing it out with the Clovis they crafted could help him escape! Though, this chill and rather musty smell didn’t seem right. If they were basing it off his own knowledge. He remember this place being much warmer smelling much more sterile. He started to his hunt for a at least a vending unit and then bed. “Sorry if I umm... Set off any alarms! I was just worried ya know? There’s normally some people milling around. Hehe, I would think I would hear music too, Altair, ya know, he’ll play music while he’s reviewing his reports and... Yeah.” The broken glass he heard crunching under his foot came back. The stranger robot before him that looked much more advance than a few months work. His stomach churned Data pad returning to the front gripped tightly. He felt like a child in this moment. “This... Isn’t a simulation right? You’re... real?”

Clovis is going through his office after being away from it for some time in a failing attempt to reorganize it. It is difficult to keep it in a desirable state as patrolling Fallen enjoy ruining his hard work. Perhaps another office is in order… For now, it is still a pocket of sanctuary that he can find and intends to keep it maintained as much as he can. Even through a proxy link into an Exo frame versus a soldier frame, he is just as stubborn as the original old man. For a moment he swears he hears an echo down the large halls and stops to see if he can find the source. A few frames ready themselves in the distance and search the perimeter for the disembodied voice.
Clovis slowly puts the 3D printed figure down and reaches for his machine gun until the voice calls out again. It sounds like a pathetic mew of a lost tourist. He sighs out and lets the gun rest safely in its compartment for now while he makes sure the hand canon he has on hand and slowly makes his way out before stopping in a safe, hidden distance. He needs to make sure he has his story straight of his alter of Hannu. It has worked so far and he intends to keep it that way. Cameras point towards the stranger and show Clovis who it is up close. The face is familiar and the lab coat is one that his employees would wear, yet his damn name tag is nowhere to be found. He scoffs and puts his helmet back down and slowly approaches the human. Clovis will let them to the first talk.
Ky frowned toying with his pad pulling up the map that one of his coworkers had given him. Still, there should be a dull roar of voices in the facility. There should be someone around! This was a thriving colony after all, wasn’t it? His heart started to beat faster the longer he went without seeing someone. “Hello? For Traveler’s sake... Don’t tell me I’m!” He muttered in his mother tongue, frantic his mind rushing with fear. There was no way that this wasn’t real. The rumors couldn’t be true, surely the Vex weren’t. No, no the Vex were unpredictable. That’s what he had always been told about them. The impossible was possible with them. He walked up to a card panel, hand paused before running over it. Pushing against the screen, it felt the same. Ky felt a crack running along the screen, “No..No this is real, maybe there’s a faculty wide briefing.” He kept walking hands adjusting his glasses looking for anything that would give away where ever was. “Ughhh... Maybe I can fudge that I made it there? I don’t think he chipped us?” Ky muttered, head looking away from the panel at the sounds of footsteps. A guard? Oh no. Was the faculty really in lock down? Who would have actually tried to break into here? He smiled nervously walking to meet the other. It was a relief though, another living being! Someone who could have answers! “Hello! I’m Kupier! Uhh, Kupier Rigel I work in the Research Development... Is... Something going on? I didn’t get an alert about anything...” He gestured with his pad his ID badge moving a bit from where it was hidden. God he felt sick, was he hungry? “I’m.... Well if nothing bad is happening, I’m gonna go get ready for bed before Mr. Bray hits us with an emergency meeting or pushing deadlines up.” He quickly side stepped the guard pulling his map up.
