GNPD power plant, located in Mariveles, Bataan Peninsula, which is the first supercritical power station in the Philippines, including 80,000 dwt wharf for coal conveying, two 120-meter- diameter circular coal yards, and desulfurization system with seawater. It is co-invested by GNPD, Ayala Corporation, Sithe Global, and is contracted by Shanghai Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd (SEPC) together with Henan Electric Power Survey & Design Institute (HEPSDI). GNPD power plant invited tenders for the laboratory project in July, 2017. CKIC cooperated with SEPC and HEPSDI positively, and repeatedly confirmed and clarified plans for coal analyzer, environmental analyzer, oil and water analyzer, laboratory casework layout, and supply of power, gas, and water with American proprietor for nearly half a year. Finally, CKIC successfully passed all technical confirmations as well as PO approval, and signed the laboratory project smoothly in the end of 2017. Responsible for equipment supply and laboratory construction, CKIC set comfortable and normative operation environment for the project, and provide accurate data for water, oil, coal and environmental surveillance, guaranteeing the overall operation of power plant. In addition, before signing the contract, professional representatives of B&V Company invited by the proprietor inspected the ability of CKIC as a supplier. Company qualification, purchasing management, production management, quality control, R&D capability, project procedures were examined thoroughly during two days of inspection. Two representatives placed high comment on CKIC’s process management, institutional norms and experience in overseas projects. This proves that CKIC has already been in the forefront of whole industry, especially in One Belt One Road (OBOR) projects. The Philippines is one of the important overseas markets in OBOR. GNPD power plant is the biggest thermal power project, so far, it is also the first supercritical power plant in the Philippines. Thus GNPD power plant plays the role of pacesetter. Upon its completion the electricity consumption in this region will be improved effectively, which is significant for mitigating the power shortage. All in all, we hope that CKIC will receive a good reputation in the Philippines, along with other Southeast Asian countries. Learning the critical role of Ash Fusibility Test for your laboratory in Power Plant?
The ash fusibility is one of the vital measurement to test the high temperature characteristic of coal. It is an important indicator of coal, which reflects the dynamic change of mineral matter in boiler. Therefore, testing ash fusion temperatures of coal plays a critical role to ensure the safe and economic operation of boiler in coal-fired power plants. Firstly, ash fusibility test can provide a basis for selecting gas temperature of the furnace outlet and safe operation of the boiler. When designing a boiler, the gas temperature of the furnace outlet is usually required to be 50-100℃ lower than the sphere temperature, and it should be limited within this range in operation. Otherwise, it may cause overheating of the furnace outlet, slag bridging in the tube, and even blocking the boiler. As a result, both sides of the boiler would be overheated, leading to abnormal steam temperature. Secondly, ash fusibility test can predict coal slagging. The coal ash fusion temperature is bound up with slag formation. From pulverized coal boiler operation experience, we can learn that furnace slagging may occur once the sphere temperature is under 1350℃, obstructing continuous safe operation of the boiler. Thirdly, ash fusibility test result can help choose the appropriate coal according to different boiler combustion modes in coal-fired power plants. The requirements of ash fusibility temperature vary according to combustion modes and ways of slag discharge. The solid slag discharge for pulverized coal-fired boilers request high ash fusibility temperature, in case of slag formation. On the contrary, the wet bottom boilers require low ash fusibility temperature to avoid difficult slag discharge, because the coal of low ash fusibility temperature possesses low viscosity, making slag discharge easier. Fourthly, ash fusibility test can help judge the type of coal ash residues. The test can roughly tell whether the coal ash is long slag or short slag, depending on the magnitude of sphere temperature range (DT-ST).It is generally acknowledged that the coal ash of magnitude from 200℃ to 400℃(ST-DT) is long slag, while the coal ash of magnitude from 100℃ to 200℃(ST-DT) is short slag. Generally speaking, the boilers are safer with long slag. When using short slag, due to the furnace temperature increase, severe extensive slag formation may occur to the solid state slag pulverized coal-fired boilers in a short time. As for long slag, although the temperature difference between deformation temperature and sphere temperature exceeds 200℃, the slag forms relatively slowly, and even if problems exist, they tend to be partial. In conclusion, ash fusibility test is crucial to power plant operation, therefore, it is necessary to formulate measure method confirming to ISO540, ASTM D 1857, GB/T 219-2008 and use reliable analytical equipment with high automation level. At the same time, CKIC has developed 5E-AF4105 and 5E-AF4115 Ash Fusion Determinators with innovation, which has been widely applied in power plants. The accurate test data can offer a guidance for safe boiler operation to avoid accidents and minimize the overhauling downtime.

2nd CKIC Seminar on Coal, Biomass & SRF Successfully Held in Korea
November 30 - December 1, 2017, 2nd Fuel Analysis Seminar that hosted by CKIC Korea and DARI, has been held in Dae-Deok, Tech Biz center Conference Room and DARI Laboratory. Over 27 Delegates from Cement Plant, Steel Plant, Commercial Laboratory, Research Institute and Power Plant have participated the seminar. During the Seminar , CKIC team has presented the Latest development of CKIC Biomass & SRF Analysis Solution, Standard compliance for different countries, and Studies on Calorific Value, Total Sulfur, Proximate (Ash, Moisture, Volatile matter), Ultimate (Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen) , Ash Fusibility and Trace Element (Fluorine, Chlorine, Mercury) analysis of Coal, Biomass and SRF. As the wood pellet is the main biomass applied in Korea, DARI has introduced the method and experience of wood pellet quality analysis in laboratory. Meanwhile, the innovated 5E-AF4115 Ash Fusion Determinator has been demonstrated, the features of 15 samples per analysis and image display from room temperature are quite interesting to most of the specialists who attend the seminar. In the second day of the seminar, the field instrumental analysis operation of wood pellet has been organized in DARI laboratory. Through the presentation in the meeting room and practice in the laboratory, the deep communication between CKIC and customers on coal, Biomass and SRF analysis method and application has been made, which is a good bridge for CKIC to offer more customized solutions for customers.

CKIC Officially Support Operation of the Chemical Laboratory for Takala Coal-fired Power Plant(2×100MW) Project
China Energy Engineering Group Anhui NO.1 Electric Power Construction Corporation Limited, as the EPC general contractor for Indonesian Takala coal-fired power plant project, on May 4, 2015 local time, held a groundbreaking ceremony in the form of foundation stone laying and concrete pouring, which marked the formal construction of power plant. As a leading manufacturer and turnkey solution provider of coal sample preparation and analysis instruments in Asia, CKIC offered the full set of analysis equipment of chemical laboratory including Automatic Calorimeter, Sulfur Analyzer, Elemental Analyzer, Muffle Furnace, Hammer Crusher, Sieve Shaker and Pulverizer. In addition the analysis instruments for water and oil analysis had also been offered together by CKIC as a package in December, 2016. In June 2017, CKIC engineer visited the Takala power plant in Indonesia, and completed installation and commissioning successfully.
