I believe Saint Cyprian of Antioch doesn’t have the same reputation in English-speaking countries. Catholic lore says that he later converted to Christianity and became a martyr, but his name here is synonymous with black magic and sorcery because of the infamous “Livro de São Cipriano” (a compilation of spells and incantations attributed to him).

Despite the bad experiences I’ve had with women, I still have a rather romanticised view of my own gender. One of the most humiliating experiences in a woman’s life is trying to defend a man against another man who is mistreating him, only for the victim himself to seem pretty much unfazed by the offence. Even when it is a serious, sometimes even criminal offence.

That’s why it is so crazy to me when men say that no one cares about their pain, because a lot of people do, especially women. However, they themselves do not seem to care much about their own pain when the person inflicting it is also a man. It is only from women that they cannot take even the mildest offence.

What a strange world.
