Then you can always decide to move out later on if you feel like it.” Spencer nodded his head, “Yeah, it’s Colin. He was on the robotics team with me. We’re pretty alright friends so we figured rooming together would be cool. He’s a great guy.”

Axel hesitantly wrapped an arm around Tragan’s shoulders, pulling her in closer, “Weird doesn’t even begin to describe it. I can’t remember when I even used the g-word last.” He cleared his throat. “Girlfriend. And now this.”

Teagan shifted around a little more when he brought her in closer, “Now this.” She couldn’t help but glance up at Axel a little curiously, “Have you had one before?”

“Aw, honey, you and your little pack of nerds will be together still. That’s so darling.” Clarke smiled, ear to ear. “I don’t know if I will be visiting much. The thought of a college boy’s dorm frightens me more than I’d like to admit.”

Spencer smiled, gently running a hand through Clarke’s hair. “I think it would have. That wasn’t something you needed me for, even though I did like helping you. I can’t wait for us to be there together. What are you thinking with the living situation? I’m already signed on for staying in a dorm for the year.”

Axel sat there for a couple of minutes, completely silent. But he wasn’t lost in his thoughts at all. In fact, there was only one thing in his mind. It was just working up the courage to say it again. With a sigh and a small smile, he glanced over towards Teagan, “I guess I love you, Teagan.”

Teagan’s lips curved up into a small smile, sitting up straight as she looked over towards him, “I guess I love you, too, Axel.” Shifting herself around, she went to lean her head against his shoulder. “Shit, that does feel weird to say.”

“I can’t imagine abandoning my castle now that I’ll be staying in state. The commute won’t be so bad...” Clarke shrugged, a little undecided on the matter. “Will you have a roommate?”

Spencer smiled, gently running a hand through Clarke’s hair. “I think it would have. That wasn’t something you needed me for, even though I did like helping you. Spencer wrapped his arms around Clarke’s waist, smiling at her fondly. “Okay. Your application looked great. And you look as beautiful as ever, of course.”

“It’s just something I never thought you’d want to hear. Fuck, it’s something I never wanted to hear, let alone feel. Just– Let me think for a sec, yeah?”

“I didn’t think I’d wanna hear it, either, but then… I dunno. Things changed. I felt differently.” Teagan nodded her head once before lying back on the couch, reaching for her phone to scroll through as she waited.

“My favorite words to hear, handsome, thank you.” Clarke leaned up to peck his lips once, “My application would have not been as near perfection if it weren’t for you. Can you believe we’ll be going to school together?”

“Super mega yikes.” Spencer pat Axel on the back as a way to show support before standing up and walking into the backyard with Clarke. “It’s very possible at this point. But his sheer dumb luck has also managed to get him this far, so maybe he’ll turn out okay.”

“Uuuuh.” Was all Axel could say, not mustering up any courage whatsoever. “So, I should probably go jump off a bridge now.”

Teagan crossed her arms over her chest as she looked at him, “What the fuck’s wrong with you? First you say it, then you forget you said it, and now you’re not even trying to embrace it or anything. What’s pretending it never happened going to do? It’s kind of making me fucking glad I didn’t say it first, Jesus Christ.”

“That’s true, but I’m always hoping justice will be served.” Clarke giggled, placing her hands on Spencer’s chest. “Let’s not talk about them, though. Let’s talk about me.”

Spencer turned to Clarke with a raised brow, “Should we, uh–” He wasn’t sure if they were supposed to leave and give Taxel some space and privacy.

“Uhhhh. You can stay. Fucking stay.” Axel spoke quickly, pathetically attempting to stay off of the subject altogether as he focused his attention back on the laptop.

“Nope, you’re going. I need to speak to my moronic, apparently-full-of-love boyfriend alone. Now go the fuck away.” Teagan shut her laptop before just staring at Axel.

“Yikes. Super yikes.” Clarke sent Teagan a smile, rolling her eyes at Axel yet again. When she stood, she took Spencer’s hand into hers and began to walk into, like, the backyard, I guess. Yes, good. “Axel might die, honey.”

Spencer couldn’t help but chuckle at his best friend, not at all surprised by him forgetting something like this. He didn’t say anything, though, because he felt a little bad about it and didn’t want to interrupt their moment.

“What?” Axel, still lost, crossed his arms across his chest, “Did I say what– Oh. Shit.”

Teagan stared at Axel and shook her head, snorting. “What a damn profound confession of love. Jesus Christ.”

“Is it possible for Axel to grow stupider and stupider by the minute?” Clarke asked herself, pretending to think about it as she stroked her chin. “Yes, yes it is.”

Spencer also widened his eyes as he looked at Taxel in shock, “Wow, what? Where did that come from?”

Axel clearly didn’t know what was going on and rose his eyebrows, confused by it all, “The fuck are you all being weird about?”

Teagan just stared at Axel, her brows furrowed, “What the fuck did you just say to me?”

“Wow, honey, I would have strangled you with my yarn if you had forgotten you said you love me.” Clarke was way too into this drama to give the couple any sort of privacy. She kept watching, amused.

Spencer chuckled softly at Taxel, shaking his head. Even though they were doing the wrong thing and he absolutely disapproved, he still found them a lil bit endearing. He grinned at Clarke and nodded his head, “I think you did, too. It’s as perfect as you are, the admissions folks are going to love it.”

Axel snorted, growing nauseated at how sweet Sparke were being with each other, “I don’t act that way ‘cuz I love you.” He shook his head, focusing back onto his application. He gave it that nod of approval. “Done, I guess.”

Teagan pulled a face at Sparke, shaking her head, “God, that’s disgusting.” She was typing up a few final things for the application when she heard what Axel had said. Glancing over at him, she narrowed her eyes, “What the fuck?”

Clarke’s eyes widened as her mouth fell ajar, “Ooooooh, somebody’s in trouble.”

“I thought you guys were better than this. Especially you, man.” Spencer sighed softly, wrapping an arm around Clarke as he went to focus on her work. “That’s a strong statement, dear. I like it.”

“Can you two fuckin’ leave or somethin’? I’m not havin’ it with your nerd talk. Not today, Spence. Not fuckin’ today.” Axel crossed his arms and read the screen. I mean, he skimmed. Not read. “What you have looks ace to me, though.”

“I’m just helping him, Jesus Christ. It’s not like I’m calling him an A+ student who spends his time volunteering to help the homeless or some shit. I’m just trying to write about him in a way that won’t make colleges reject him on the spot, alright? So chill the fuck out.”

Clarke snuggled into Spencer’s side, ignoring Taxel altogether as she didn’t want to be an accomplice to this ‘crime’. She sent a grin up at him, “Thank you. I think I worded it eloquently.”

“Aw, come on. There has to be a better way to go about this. In a way that isn’t cheating or plagiarism or whatever the kids are calling it these days. I guess it’d be both. You’re a smart guy, Axel, isn’t there someway you could write your own application?” He was mostly concerned this would come back to bite them all in the ass even though he and Clarke weren’t even involved with what Taxel was doing.

“The more you two talk, the more I wish English wasn’t my first language.” Axel pulled yet another face, this time at both Spencer and Clarke. He decided to ignore them and looked over the stuff Teagan had typed up for him and nodded his head in approval, “I mean, sounds a whole lot better than I fuckin’ hate school and I don’t know how I’m going to pay for this shit, anyways. So good job, I guess. Thanks.”

“Chill the fuck out.” Teagan rolled her eyes once more before snorting, shaking her head at Axel. “I mean, schools don’t love anything more than hearing that shit. Maybe you should just write that and we’ll call it a day.” She typed a little more, trying to make it sound the most Axel-like but also a little bit professional.

“Well, while you two are cheating your way through school, I have to say, my application is coming along swimmingly.” Clarke smile proudly, passing her pink laptop over towards Spencer so he could correct any of her mistakes and so on and so forth while leaning her head against his shoulder.

Spencer couldn’t help but chuckle at his friends, “Hey, man, you can’t do that. You have to be authentic with your application. You’ll feel better about your application that way.” Will he, Spencer. Will he really.

“Okay, but here’s a thought. How about no?” Axel’s brows were furrowed together and as much as he wanted to complete this shit, he wasn’t having any of this ‘do it on your own’ crap. He sucked with his words and were convinced the final product would look like something a toddler threw together during arts and crafts time in Pre-School. “When I don’t get in, I’m blamin’ it on all of you.”

Teagan rolled her eyes and let out a small sigh, going to type a few sentences in one of the little answer boxes for him. She glanced over at Axel, wanting to get his approval, “‘Kay, does that define you well enough?”

“Cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater.” She taunted away as she typed up her own responses. “Liar, liar, pants on fire.” Clarke added as she came to the end, smirking towards Taxel.

“Yeah, someone who you got along with at least a little bit. Who understands you and would potentially write a great recommendation for you.” Spencer smiled fondly at Clarke, wrapping an arm around her shoulder and pecking her temple gently.

“Well I didn’t have my lips attached to any of my teacher’s asses like somebody else here.” Axel pulled a face at Clarke, tapping his fingers against the keyboard as he tried to figure it out. “Can’t you do it for me, babe? You’re better with your words than anyone I know.”

“Maybe you should’ve. It’d make this shit ten times easier for you.” Teagan shook her head at him, taking the laptop onto her lap anyways so she could help him out. “I’m not doing it for you, babe. How about you answer the questions in your own words and I’ll make it sound more academic for you? That way it’s still your own thoughts.”

“I did no such thing. That’s disgusting.” Clarke stuck her nose in the air snootily, pursing her lips. She resumed typing soon after, determined to ignore Axel’s jabs at her. Besides, she was more content on finishing her application than making fun of Axel (even if it was her heart’s desire).

Spencer watched Clarke with a proud smile, glancing over to see what she was writing but in a not snoopy way. He mostly just wanted to make sure she was working. “That’s a good start.”

“Do I need, like, recommendation shit?” Axel scratched the back of his head, beginning to look over the application. It didn’t look all that confusing and that surprised him, really.

“Yeah, probably at least one good one. Do you have anybody in mind who could be one? If not, we’ll figure something out.” Teagan tapped her fingers on her lap as she glanced through the application as well.

“A teacher would be a good idea.” Clarke recommended as she typed away, albeit very slowly. “I know the principal would love to do it for me.” She looked over her shoulder at Spencer and pecked the tip of his nose quickly, giggling.

“We’ll all go through the process together so it feels less overwhelming. How does that sound?”

“Fine, I guess.” Axel shrugged his shoulders. Actually going through with this application process would be better than giving up… like he always did. He rolled his eyes at the thought and then sat there with his arms crossed. “So, what? Classes first?”

“I was almost expecting you to put up one hell of a fight there. I’m a little bit impressed, babe.” Teagan opened up the application on her laptop so he could see it. “Those come towards the end. Like, after you’ve been accepted. You have to do the personal statements and shit first.”

Well if Axel could do it so easily, Clarke definitely could. So as soon as her unfreezed, she followed what Teagan was doing and opened up the application. Personal statements? Now that was something Clarke could do without any trouble. With a little, confident smile she started on her own app.

“The great thing about college is that you can avoid those classes if you aren’t planning on going into a major involving them. You might have to take a couple classes just to get the math and science credits to graduate, but that can happen at any point in the years until graduation. There’s no need to stress out, though, everything’s going to be great.” Spencer couldn’t help but chuckle at both his girlfriend and his best friend, shaking his head at them both. He took Clarke’s hand off the mouse/keypad thing so she’d stop clicking it before glancing over at Axel. “You know, I could see you as a botanist if you really wanted to be one. Because, why not? You might enjoy it.”

“Oh. Not really.” He shook his head, not wanting to start his application anytime soon. In his words, it took too much ‘brain power’ and he just did not have that right now, or enough motivation. “I only care for learning about the environment wild animals are livin’ in, that’s it.” He shrugged.

“And you’re only gonna get to learn about the environment wild animals are living in if you apply. Come on, the deadline’s coming up soon and you’re going to miss it if you keep putting it off. It’s not that hard of an application, either.”

In turn, Clarke ended up holding Spencer’s hand in hers, lacing their fingers together as she cast her first not-so-judgmental look towards Axel since apparently this applying for an actual university thing didn’t seem to be her cup of tea either. “God, Axel, don’t make her do it for you. What are you, 12?” Even though she fully intended on having Spencer fill in the boring stuff for her.
