Can all y’all gif commissioners who make public posts about your private packs just… stop? Literally just stop making public posts about them, and especially stop posting them in the tags of the fc. It’s really fuckin obnoxious to see “300+ gifs of this fc you’ve been looking for!” only to see it’s a private pack for someone else and you’ll never get to see it.
Literally all you’re doing is dangling resources in the faces of people who can’t afford commissions and/or can’t make resources themselves, and saying “haha these are for someone else! oh you wanted some useable gifs of this underused actor in this specific source? too fuckin bad, pleb, it’s for someone else :)) maybe if you weren’t poor you could afford to pay me for some yourself but hahah you can’t”
Maybe that’s not your intention, but that’s how it comes off. If your intention is to hopefully get people to say commission from you, I can tell ya right now it’s having the opposite effect. It just makes you look like a douche and means people will actively avoid you.
Like if you absolutely *have* to make a public post, don’t say what the pack is for. Just say something like ‘another privately commissioned gif pack has been delivered to its owner, freeing up a commission slot, DM me if you’re interested!”
Just fuckin stop shoving these great resources in people’s faces and then making them feel like garbage when they can’t access them. ESPECIALLY if it’s an underused or minority fc that really needs more resources for people to use! Just pass the gifs on to the new owner quietly, it’s literally that simple.
i’m sorry but you know most people who are making these gifs are broke typically college aged to high school people right? who are typically devoting hours upon hours for steeply under minimum wage prices. It takes me personally an hour to do about 12 gifs, yes I’m a little slower than some of the pros but it would take me well over a hundred hours to make a 300+ gif pack. in fact it takes me weeks. i’m fortunate enough to release my content for free because i’m not hurting for cash. not everyone is so fortunate. your tags have you mentioning how elitist it looks…. yes, nothing like hey i can barely afford to eat let me gif for hours on end and be lucky to walk away with two mcdonalds meals for the effort of it.
posting the gif set previews, allows others who ARE willing and able to commission packs to see the work produced. It’s literally no different to artists posting their commissioned works. just because it’s not for you doesn’t mean they have no right to post it???? it’s an advertisement, and a FAR more effective one than simply stating you have commissions open.
you’re not actually owed a gif pack, it’s a luxury at best that is non essential for rp, regardless of whatever fc they happened to have giffed. it would be lovely for people to release fc’s with low content for free, but there are plenty of other gif makers doing that and also taking requests. so why should people, some of whom’s only additional income (hell, sometimes ONLY income) not post the best example and the most likely format to gain them potential customers because you don’t like it? as someone who pays for gif content, i assure you it actually doesn’t have the opposite effect, it made me look at the quality of their shit and go, yeah i want a pack. if they posted commissions open!!! i wouldn’t have bothered to click the page. i’m sure i’m not alone in that regard.

If they’re elitist, you sound entitled.
