Update: Yik Yak simmers down

While explicitly maintaining an effort to highlight the worst of Clemson Yik Yak, this tumblr also has interest in truth, acknowledging that racist posts aren't usually popular and are downvoted or reported by yik yak users within minutes. The thesis statement is still Clemson Has A Racism Problem, but with an asterix. Because there are chill people on campus, well-intentioned uninformed people, ill-intentioned uninformed people, who can be taught to see the light, and the goal is just to make people understand. The content on this page is selected to show the worst of Clemson, not the whole. That being said, and possibly out of the conclusion of the #SikeSitIn and the overwhelming desire to talk/think about anything else, Clemson yik yak has simmered down. There's plenty of snarky problematic banana/triggered jokes, lots of white cluelessness and administration apologia. The protest is still a joke, though an unpopular subject. But there's no longer a multitude of shit, and the whole debacle has largely left the squirrel-like consciousness of the student body. Positive evaluations of the protest are upvoted, and yik yak is overall a far less toxic place than it was a few weeks ago. This got to be a long post and no one probably cares but I'm spending too much time on yik yak and tumblr rather than finals so I'm going to chill on this for a bit. Will update infrequently, accepting submissions and the like. Thanks for the crazy ride. 👋
