She wasn’t about to get mushy; she shook her head, put a silly smile on, and then just shrugged her shoulders as if nothing really happened. “That’s also basically what my moms kept telling me when I felt down – safe to say, it’s nice to hear such words from someone who’s important to me. Y’all are the smart ones, eh?”
Clem smiled at that. Being happy was one of the most important things in life, as far as she was concerned. She had had times when she was happier than others, and it made a huge difference. “Good. Jobs aren’t everything, but if you’re happy, that’s good,” she smiled. She thought if her moms were saying it, then she must be on the right track as far as decent advice goes. “I don’t know about smart, but I’m sure I speak for yours moms, too, when I say we just care about you.”
