@climateworrywart
Buddhist mindfulness suggests an approach to climate change I could live with. Not just one huge act, the ultimate solution, but a daily step by step practice.
I even made myself some little Mindful Practice forms to push myself along.
(That's Kenny Ausubel's comment on the Biosphere)
Among my various readings was Stephanie Kaza's Hooked, a collection of essays by Buddhists on dealing with the pressures of consumerism.
It made me look inside my crammed closet.
They're right. Happiness is not in there.
Step One: Is this really happening? (It cant be, can it?) A quick look at the scientific data:
Afraid so, And its not going away. Its a little hard to believe 10,000 scientists are up in the arctic with flame throwers meting the ice as a concocted plan to get grant money.
This is my Global Warming Worry-Wart Dairy, started in 2009.
I found that when talking to people about climate change, many just considered it too overwhelming and depressing and glazed over.
I myself felt paralyzed by its sheer magnitude and I couldn't imagine where or how to start doing anything about it.
So, being an artist I made it into an art project- a collaged journal- journey.
