you, your lips, your eyelids closed,

your slumbering form

breathing deeply, your arms around me.

I woke up wanting to kiss

you, your neck, your shoulder

I had rested my head on all night

snuggled close, so close, to you.

I woke up wanting to kiss

you, gently, just enough to

feel our lips soft against each other,

then holding you when

you stir in your sleep.

I whisper, “Sshhh, I’m here, it’s okay,”

and you pull me closer, your nose in my hair

making me fall asleep in your arms

and waking up later wanting

to kiss you again.
