essentially…my idea was that merfolk vi’s father is an anthropomorphic fire snail (aka the Platymma Tweediei.) their mother is a siren but they didn’t inherit the ability to control people through song. they have a generally human-like shape but with a tail and a snail shell that is filled with lava. if it is ruptured or cools down, they can die
