I think by far the funniest thing about The Binding of Isaac is that the game is literally not canon to itself. Nothing, not a single thing that happens in actual gameplay is real. It's all a dream-hallucination that's 35% symbolism 65% shitposting. There's 34 playable characters, except no there isn't, there's 1 and his name is Isaac.

The literal opening of the game? The premise of the game, derived from the bible story the game gets its name from? Never happened. Isaac's mom never tried to kill him. There wasn't even a basement.
