I've spent so much time abandoning myself. I'm not sure which is harder - processing the things I've allowed and endured or looking in the mirror and seeing the person those experiences molded me into. Coming into my own these last few years has been reckoning with who I had become. I wasn't good to myself, I wasn't present. I was a sponge left to sit in scum and I had absorbed it all. I mourn the me that was young and unknowing and I pray that she is looking for me too. I wake up every day and I work to undo what has been done to us.
