Here’s an edit I made featuring footage of Michael Corleone and Al Neri from The Godfather trilogy set to “BODYGUARD” by Beyoncé!
For u, @cml-17
(Sorry for that 💀💀💀)
Something I recently noticed is that the way Michael and Kay link arms is reverse of how I usually see couples do it…
With the couples I’ve seen both in real life and in images online, the woman’s arm is usually wrapped around the man’s, and I researched that this is meant to be a gentlemanly gesture rooted in old traditional gender roles. So the fact that Michael and Kay are doing the opposite here really stood out to me. If this was done on purpose to reflect the non-traditional nature of their dynamic, then that’s pretty genius imo. If not, it’s still pretty cute lol. Maybe it’s not that deep, but I just wanted to share my thoughts on this.
Thanks to @you-never-talk for the encouraging feedback and to @denvilleneuve for the gif!
I wanted to add to this since I recently remembered there’s another scene of Michael and Kay linking arms together, this time when they arrive at Connie’s wedding…
However, here they’re doing it in the traditional way, as Kay’s arm is wrapped around Michael’s this time instead of the other way around. I suspect that this is due to them being around Michael’s family, so perhaps they feel the need to perform for them. But when they’re alone walking down the city street, that’s when they feel like they can truly be themselves.
