Closing the book and then placing them on his lap, Shikamaru looked over to his friend. Randomly reminded of a times where they seems to forget that Shino was around because anyone would  agree with him that this guy’s lack of presence often being the reason people tend to forget about him. Seriously. To him, Shino seems like a cool guy to hang out with, might even be a good shogi player. Ah, he should ask about it some time soon.

       “I see. I don’t plan much today, just reading this book” he raised the book and then put it back down, chuckling some as he did so, “–maybe I’ll find a place to nap or not, we’ll just see..Ah, Is it the same breed with the bugs you’re currently having right now or a new one?”

shikamaru’s curiosity almost brought a smile to his lips, hands slipping into his pockets. it felt nice to hang out with someone   -   though he wasn’t the best at maintaining conversation. shino had a bad habit of saying something sarcastic or snarky. . . though that was usually directed at kiba. at the nap comment, his head tilted back, studying the placement of the sun in the sky. that actually sounded rather nice. it was the perfect day for that sort of thing.

her curiosity surprised him. usually people saw him at work and made a bee-line for safety. for some reason unknown to bug user . . . people were afraid of these small creatures. & while his own beetles could do some serious damage        the ones he observed were no more harmful than a butterfly.  shino tilted his head away from the male beetle in the dirt, meeting her gaze curiously before  turning back to look at the specimen. 

   “ allomyrina dichotoma. . . the japanese rhinoceros beetle.        he only has a life-span of four months, so his time is fairly       precious. . . he’s trying to find a mate. “

What activities do they enjoy, but consider to be a waste of time?

basically anything where he’s not working or training is a waste of time for him. touched on here, he does like to sit in the garden & simply enjoy the wildlife, but he doesn’t do it often. another thing he does that he might consider a waste of time would be to take walks, which he enjoys doing… but to make it feel like it’s less of a waste, he’ll sometimes collect plant or insect specimen to take home to study or look at later. 

What makes them feel guilty?

losing people in battle. that would be a big one, since he sees himself as somewhat of a leader. also, making the team weaker        if it’s hand to hand combat, he’s not very helpful at all. other than that, he doesn’t really feel guilty for much at all, part from what normal people would feel guilty for.  

Are they more analytical or more emotional in their decision-making?

extremely analytical. shino is a very practical & calculate person. he doesn’t make any decisions without weighing the outcomes very carefully, and he doesn’t let his emotions effect him at all. he’s very good at separating his work from his feelings.  

Would they consider themselves a Type A or Type B personality?

textbook type b personality. shino is very calm, laid back… patient. he comes from a family of scientists & analytical thinkers, and has been raised to be able to keep calm and cool in any situation. 

What recharges them when they’re feeling drained?

honestly he will do deep breathing routines … sometimes some mild stretching that help him regain his head when he’s worn out. it’s almost like yoga, but not nearly as physical. because of the beetles that host inside of him, he’s had to adapt both inside & outside to accommodate them. lungs have a moist lining; which is an ideal nesting ground for his particular species of beetle. to be able to hold them inside of him & not have them affect his breathing or his functioning, he’s had to adapt by regulating his breathing so that he is always in control of the intake and output of oxygen. this is a skill passed down in his clan that he learned from his father. 

Would you say that they have a superiority-complex? Inferiority-complex? Neither?

mild inferiority-complex, which he combats by acting as if he’s got a superiority-complex. he is confident in his skills & abilities, but he will probably always feel inferior to those around him. that is because he’s often always ignored or overlooked.

Eating habits and sample daily menu:

as sort of mentioned here, shino is a pescitarian, though he tries to avoid eating any meat in general. he can tolerate white fish usually due to how mild it is in taste, but in general, he doesn’t like the taste of any meat. he does eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. his meals will usually be something like: tea & fruit for breakfast, water & some sort of rice / vegetable dish for lunch, fruit throughout the day as a snack (apples / peaches are his favorite), whatever his mother makes for dinner, and tea & fruit for desert (sometimes a small slice of cake or something of that sort). so while he does eat savory foods... it’s probably only 1/4th of his diet. his tea he drinks straight at breakfast, & flavors it with honey when he has it with desert. 

Favorite way to waste time and feelings surrounding wasting time:

shino is a firm believer in keeping busy. even his hobbies lean more towards studying. he tries to avoid wasting time, and can always find a way to busy himself. very, very rarely, he sits in the garden in his estate & simply watches the insects, wildlife, ect... but he would call it observing before he called it relaxing / wasting time.

the aburame clan consists of a both insect & non insect users. while about a third of the clan do take the path of the shinobi, for the most part, they are scientists or trackers. most in his clan prefer to study, breed, and raise deferent species of beetle. they also observe other insects, but their primary focus is beetles. this is because the kikaichū is a breed of beetle found by the aburame clan & raised / trained specifically for the use of it’s clan members. the mother land for the aburame clan would be in what we in our world would call madagascar. because the kikaichū only have a lifespan of a few hours, it’s impractical to form a bond with them. that is why they are used primarily in battle. 

shino personally likes to give all of his beetles love & attention, despite the fact that they will normally only live between 5-15 hours. female kikaichū he calls rie (meaning blessing), & male kikaichū he calls vevy (meaning toughtful). this can confuse some people into thinking he names all of his beetles different names          which would be very impractical. his clan consists mostly of pescitarians, though shino avoids all meats all together if he can. he prefers fruit above most other things, ironically a similar diet to most domesticated beetles.
