super-bowl sunday with the fam, what could possibly go wrong? the answer to that question was a lot â for some reason or another, the younger generation together in one room always proved to be dangerous but that was besides the point. yes he was excited for the game, after all how couldnât he be? heâd gone off on iâd dump both logan and cj if aaron blake asked me to rants for forever. the reminder that this night had been the â official â start of his relationship with j.j. did linger in the back of his mind, now here they were a year later broken up, with his career and hers better than ever which was in his opinion for the best. it wasnât like heâd rushed on over and asked maddie to be his girlfriend, not that he could they could barely carry on a normal conversation without arguing anyway. â PATRIOTS!â the blonde yelled as he walked into the bar, lightly kicking logan in the shin, before he playfully rolled his eyes. â all right there california tone it down.â he added as he waved at his now cousin to be, before his eyes landed on the younger crowd, instantly looking for his sister. â nice jersey squirt. â he added as he ruffled sawyerâs hair and chuckled as his seat.
â whoâs playing again? â heâd asked his father the question over and over again during the days leading up to the event, simply because he wanted to get a rise out of his old man. however now that he had arrived and he looked around at the different colored jerseyâs he realized he really didnât know who was playing. not that it mattered he was here to watch the other show, the soap-opera known as their lives and besides heâd seen the davis kid around his sister way too often, so figuring out what that was about? what better way than to start here. trailing in behind them, the young man laughed under his breath as he watched his sister instantly let go of the baker twinâs hand. heâd make fun of her for that later. â subtle sis.. â he replied as he nudged her, taking his seat far enough away as to not third-wheel on what he could now only assume was a group date. â anyone ordered food yet? â yes, that was his way of saying hello, instantly he reached for a basket of fries in the middle of the table and pulled it towards himself. happy tummy, happy mind â or something like that.Â
secretly doing things had never been davis style, in fact it was quite the opposite the baker boy couldnât tell a lie to save his life. it was the reason why he skipped out on what his brother was doing half the time â he had to for his sanityâs sake. still the happy and why not say it smug feeling of being able to hold hands with the prettiest girl in the room wasnât something he could hide very well but heâd try. he liked the idea of having things be theirs for a little while, because after it was out in the open it would become everyoneâs business as things usually did when it came to their lives. coughing awkwardly as he heard drewâs comment, the boy rolled his eyes at his brother before leaning forward and pressing a kiss on his god sisterâs cheek. â i think she looks great, best jersey in the house. â he complimented her with a smile, before his eyes landed on laneyâs a light blush rising to his cheeks before he groaned as he heard his brother talk. â shut up jude. â he interjected, with a roll of his eyes. â or youâll end up in the pool. â
matching jerseyâs and a baby, things really had changed since last year and the youngest evans couldnât find it in herself to complain. her boys were the most important part of her life â and so after fussing with her for twenty minutes, sheâd finally made it.heading over to the bar, she pressed a kiss on her boyfriendâs cheek, before looking over at casey and smiling. sheâd grilled the girl for hours on end, asking if she was sure she was a lesbian. for no particular reason other than well a girl had to know right? sure sheâd go with that. a light frown formed on her features as she spotted logan and mick and lily and nathan. that picture was still wrong, truly she had to do EVERYTHING around here. not that it lasted long because her attention then focused on her son, who was on his god motherâs lap. instantly reaching over, natalie scooped him up and pressed a kiss to his nose. â whoâs the most handsome boy in the room? â she cooed, as she comfortably placed the baby on her lap, bouncing her legs as he giggled. watching as dionne walked by, the girl stuck her foot out, pretending to be too distracted by the baby, only to laugh and loudly as the brunette tripped over her. â if only we could make CERTAIN people disappear. â she mumbled in sawyerâs direction, before narrowing her eyes at jude. â keep the satan juice away, from my kid. â she warned with a stern finger. â heâs pure. â she added, as she squeezed the baby in her arms lightly.Â
sheâd noticed something was wrong with lily the second sheâd seen her but dionne wasnât one to push so instead she offered up the idea of going to see the game. which yes was strange, but there would be people there, crazy people but people. not to mention the fact that dionne enjoyed exploring the mathematics behind the football plays not that anyone other than nathan cared to listen but  â they had always been the definition of making their own fun personified. and all right, she wanted to see casey, but that was as far as she knew a well kept secret or not. as soon as lily spotted the brunette, dionne bit her bottom lip and blushed god was she pretty. â sheâs busy⊠â she clumsily mumbled, but sighed as she got a look from her brother and so she nodded. ignoring the rest of the table, only to stumble as someone stuck out her foot, a loud chuckle coming from natalie as dionne growled under her breath. the youngest evans was going to murder her some day, she was sure of it. â hey you. â she greeted casey, as she took a seat across from where she was working, in order to see her better. â long night? âÂ
âalright, if youâre rooting for the rams you need to sit yourself on the other side of the room. i donât make the rules,â lydiaâs voice, in all of its plummy nature, remarked as she neared the already large group. the scott girl donned a âBLAKEâ patriots jersery that tied at the waste, hitting a bit above some dark denim shorts. on top of the merch, two black stripes had been painted on under her eyes and her dark locks cascade around her shoulders and back in perfect waves. it was clearâlydia scott had come out in full force today. she wasnât playing. sure, jamie was the one everyone pegged as the sports buff (which, frankly, the little sister often considered sexist), but she was just as involved and into it as he was. she lived for days like today, when everyone could get together, watch a game, and give each-other shit with absolutely no repercussions. it really was her scene. that is, if you didnât count last yearâs super bowlâwhich was the exact reason sheâd invited cameron, but made sure not to force the idea. sheâd blame no one if last yearâs âcelebrationâ put a sour taste in their mouth. âscoot over, babes,â the girl not-quite-asked as she took a seat near sawyer, laney, and natalie. âwhatâve i missed?â
athena couldnât give a flying fuck about the game. she hadnât last year, and she especially wasnât going to attempt to give a shit this year. there were other priorities in the room at the moment. like the drinks and the small infant who she still thought looked like cabbage and had forever been calling it that. her hands smushed the kidâs cheeks, the only sign of affection that could possibly be allowed. last time she did so without washing her hands, thea ended up with bite marks from her favorite family member. and it wasnât the child. âif anyone wants to pay for my food for the next week, iâll put $200 on the team with the blue in their uniforms.â oh, the blonde thought she was as clever as always. she knew both teams wore blue and there was a 25% chance someone in the group might agree to the bet. then again, there were more assholes that would ruin it for her. looking around, her brows furrowed. âokay what kind of establishment doesnât give unlimited fries and unlimited drinks? iâm starting a riot.â she joked, sort of.
Chuck had every intention of skipping the superbowl party this year. last year he had unfortunately began a flirtation with the devil herself, maddison, and that had gotten him nowhere but angry. he hadnât talked to most of the people in the bar in weeks. parts of him felt embarassed by some of his words but the bigger part of him still stood by what he said. walking in and spotting the huge group he once considered family, made him take a deep breath. Chuck would never be the bigger person but part of him missed the group of weirdos that was half made up of kids and half made up of adults wishing they could still get away with being kids. âlet me get a beerâ he asked a random bartender, still not quite ready to do this. It was tradition, but still, he wasnât up for it like normal. He slyly glanced around the group, trying not to seek out his former best friendâs face but going there anyway. Sipping on his beer he made his way to the group thinking of what to say. He opened his mouth to say something when his eyes caught an image on the TVâŠâJJâ he stated, already feeling angry eyes on him for bringing her up for what seemed like no reason. he quickly squashed that by pointing to the TV, âNo shitâŠsheâs at the fucking superbowl singingâ there was shock and awe on his features. maybe this night wouldnât be so terrible.
sawyer sighed, squinting at laney, âdie!â she teased, before nudging her slightly as she smiled at the kiss davis pressed on her cheek. âi didnât know!â she groaned, âhow was i suppose to know thereâs two different aarons?! besides, heâs right. i do like good.â  she shrugged, only to then roll up her hands into fists as she shook it at jamie after he ruffled her hair. âdamn you, scott! youâll rue the day!â the blonde groaned, only to immediately after take the glass from jude. âwait, why are we sneaking into places?â she asked, looking towards davis, an eyebrow raised as she took a small swig from the beer, emphasizing a âspill the teaâ moment. her nose scrunched, handing the glass back to jude, shushing him as she did so. âleave her alone. sheâs right, i mean it gets you bloated, youâre burping it up and then once you start peeing, you can never stop!â none of them were really big drinkers, hell, the first college party she went to they made her take a shot and right after that shot, she called jude to come pick her up because she was dizzy. light weight, heâd call her and he was right. ares rolled his eyes at sawyer, they just didnât know. this was what was different between them and his sister and him, the rest of his cousins were so coddled and overly protected by their parents.  âbeer is americaâs favorite past time,â he nodded, âbut so are shots.â ares pulled a waiter aside, handing him a twenty so that he didnât tell cj he was ordering shots for the whole table (heâd figure it out but, for now? heâd have his fun). âhenny shots. 20.â  sawyerâs eyes widened, looking towards lydia as she scooted over and made space for the brunette. â10 dollars someone ends up puking tonightâŠanother $10 itâs mick.. and another $20 on athena trying to dip on the bill.â the blonde whispered towardâs lydia, laney and natalie. âiâll bet on that last one!â ares shouted, smiling as he saw the shots heading to their table, while also knowing that he didnât have the money to pay for the 20 shots of henny he just ordered.  Â
nathan walked in with lily, his arms draped across her shoulders, sporting a leo tate jersey â only played two seasons but till this day nathan was sure heâd be the best player along with blake â  as he kept her close until finally they spotted their table. unfortunately for him, theirtable also meant loganâs table and he was incredibly aware of how loganâs eyes followed lily, aware of how he looked up even when she spoke out to dionne. âhey, logan,â nathan called out as he took a seat in the booth,  if he was so in love and so ready to marry his fiancĂ©, then why pay so much attention to his girlfriend? âwhoâd you put money on tonight?â he would play, he would play whatever game logan wanted him to play if it meant he stayed away from his relationship. he and lily had just celebrated one year â even if it wasnât exactly that. this moment last year, he chased after her and he hadnât regretted it since. this was the moment everything changed, and she noticed him, she finally noticed him and since then, she started giving him the chance he needed. he loved her, he wanted to do everything for her. heâd take her to go see phantom of the opera as many times as he could. there was no way logan even measured up to him, did he? at least, thatâs what dionne made him believe.  quite frankly, nathan didnât like this, the jealousy, the overthinking. is this what came with relationships? or is this what came when you dated someone in such a small town? instead of sulking in his thoughts, nathan chose to push the thoughts away, ordering a glass of wine for both him and lily. âlogan?â nathan questioned, having waited for the man to answer.
logan had to fight to take his eyes away from lily, his attention only being brought over to nathan when he called out him. âhmm?â he asked, missing the question, but having heard his name. âhe said whoâd you put money on today, babe. whereâs your head at?â mick questioned, eyebrowâs furrowing as she passed a hand through logansâ hair. Â
âreal doesnât his hair look sexy pushed back moment, we having?â madison chimed in, having walked through the door unnoticed. âoh, hey nateâs cousin,â she smiled, pressing a kiss on lilyâs cheek before wrapping her arms around her from the back. that was a straight shot towardâs logan, who was now laughing and talking to jamie. of course, lily had told her. of course, she was going to be upset about it. lily deserved every chance at happiness and she was sure that nathan was that for her. you donât hurt someone you love the way logan was hurting lily.  the brunette watched as shots got delivered to the table, amazed that cj was allowing for that to happen but one look over at him and she knew exactly why that didnât happen.  he was in deep gaze at his girlfriend and son, even where he stood from all the way at the bar.  âshots?â she questioned, eyebrow raised, eyes scanning the table to see who ordered, before finally landing on ares who was waving. âooo fun, should we take a shot every time logan addresses lily as nathanâs cousin, or is he actually saying her name today?â she cleared her throat, âhey, mick â he did tell you right? lilyâs his ex girlfriend.â she was going to speak and say what lily couldnât, it was always like that. besides, she had also had enough of the men â more so boys â diminishing and destroying anything of what was left of their friendship or relationship.  âwhoop there it isâŠâ cj called out from the bar, signaling over to casey to take over from her as he walked towards the table. the young man pressed a kiss on his girlfriendâs forehead, acting very nonchalant as he picked up his son from his girlfriendâs lap (he even ignored the alcohol), his friend wasnât going down like this â regardless of how in the wrong he was. nathan, on the other hand, cleared his throat. âwell, itâs about time someone said it. why hide something if youâre so over her?â
cj shook his head, before letting out a deep breath.  ânot here, guys. not in front of the kid. itâs superbowl night. canât we just have a good one?â he questioned, leaning in towards natalie before wrapping an arm around her.  logan glanced towards  lily, shaking his head, the look on his face apologetic.  last time this happened, he landed in the pool. this exact same way because someone said something they shouldnât have â and again, it was maddie. god, sometimes. sometimes he wanted her to just shut the fuck up. âyeah,â he cleared his throat, âsheâs my ex-girlfriend but that doesnât seem so important now that iâm with someone new. why bring up the past?â the young man shrugged, glancing towards mick who now looked uncomfortable where she sat. the young man grabbed her hand underneath the table, feeling sorry for what had just happened and wanting to apologize; however, she snatched her hand away almost as immediately as he grabbed it. logan let out a breath, taking a large drink from his beer, he wasnât going to do the same thing again, he wasnât going to embarrass either one of them, heâd take the embarrassment and suck it up. âcan we just enjoy the game or â ?â the man looked over at his friends for help. cj was at his side, silently hoping for the attention to be directed back towards the several tvsâ that were literally there for them to watch.  âyo loâŠâ  cj paused mid sentence, having recognized the voice singing the star spangled banner on the television. âholy shit â is that?â his eyes widened, unsure if anyone else had noticed â or rather,  wishing all of them noticed. âitâs fucking jj,â maddie murmured, mainly to herself as her eyes remained planted on the television. meanwhile, logan brushed a frustrated hand through his hair â if he could have pulled it out, he would have â everything was going to shit.
so this whole pretending to not date thing sheâd come up with was great and all.. but was laney sat smushed between sawyer and lydia, an entire bar of people surrounding her, she sort of wished she could reach out and take davisâ hand; if only to calm her own anxieties but she couldnâtâ wouldnât, not with jude lurking around waiting for any opportunity to pounce. she quickly looked towards davis as sawyer began to question his lateness the night before, knowing damn well heâd been in her bedroom. with eyes wide, she tried her best to stay calm because.. seriously, was her brother laughing across the table? oh screw him â she gave him dagger eyes, vowing to get him back for that later. âoh come on, s. do you really want to waste your time amusing the rantings of this idiot?â she pointed towards jude, rolling her eyes in the process.
jude took the glass back from sawyer, only wincing slightly when natalie nudged him. he was going to have to get smarter about this whole fighting thing.. or maybe, faster. betterâ if he wanted to keep it a secret, at least (and he did, he knew what people would say). turning towards the baby, he scrunched his nose up in disgust. âget that thing away from me!â he groaned, making his feelings quite clear about the demon child, who hated him.. he was almost positive (it was in the eyes). speaking of people who hated him.. âand whatâs got your panties in a twist today, penny lane? ya know, if youâd just let some of that tension go.. youâd feel a lot better and i know just the way to help ya out.â he threw a wink in her direction, wrapping both his arms around sawyerâs shoulders and resting his chin atop her head. âshe just needs to get laid, right everyon--â fuck. he didnât see laneyâs hand until he had punched him right in the side of his chest. the air was literally pushed out of him and he collapsed just the slightest bit against sawyerâs back. he quickly composed himself, taking another sip of beer. âyouâre an ass,â laney huffed before turning in her seat so her back was to jude.
cam wasnât going to come â not after last year anyway but when lydia invited him.. not even the risk of total disaster could keep him away and so, he made his way towards the bar, only pausing briefly once heâd arrived to take in the scene playing out in front of him. his eyes scanned the room, he cringed silently as he spotted the full table of his peers but that feeling soon shifted to joy as he landed on a certain brunette. he finally made his way over, taking a seat beside davis. âwhatâd i miss?â he whispered to his friend as he reached out and took lydiaâs hand in his, smiling across at her. âhey,â he mouthed. âyou look beautiful.â
this was why sheâd wanted to stay home â lily had known no good could come from the whole gang getting together. at least nathan was trying, she thought but still, there was too much history, too many hurt feelings and grudges to avenge and clearly logan thought the same as he was straight up ignoring nathan to.. was he looking at her? she quickly looked away, turning her attention to dionne, who was now talking to casey, maybe some good could come from this night, just maybe and after how supportive sheâd been towards nathan and herself, lily wanted nothing more than for dionne to find her own happiness.. maybe she could nudge them in the right direction but before she could get up to do so, she felt a kiss against her cheek. âmaddie!â she smiled, turning slightly to give her best friend a makeshift hug.. she didnât even get a squeeze in though before she was groaning at her words. not the time or the place, she thought (not that she didnât appreciate the back up -- girl power and all, she did love maddison most out of everyone in the entire world) but it was too late. the words were out before she could stop them and so, as the awkwardness and tension grew, she hid away in the crock of nathanâs neck. a safe place, away from all the noise. yes, she liked it here very much. she was going to stay here the entire night.. avoiding the mess that was starting to pile up (and logan. she definitely needed to avoid logan.. or at the very least, be the one who walked away this time -- he didnât get to do that again, not on her watch).
âlong week,â casey shrugged as she continued to pour beers and prepare shots-- she handed one to chris, âanything else i can get âya?â it took her a moment but once her eyes found those of dionneâs, she couldnât help but smile. âyouâd think the owner of this place would, you know, care butââ she shrugged again, motioning towards cj who was now socializing and not doing his job. hell, if he was going to take a break.. so was she. casey carefully put down all the bottles sheâd been holding before resting her elbows against the bar counter in front of dionne and placing her chin in her palms. âso,â she started, her attention now purely on the awkward but rather cute woman in front of her. âi wouldnât guess this was your type of scene, you just here for back up?â sheâd picked up on the fact that she was close to her brother, it was cute in that whole âtree hill is homeâ type of way but casey didnât have much family, other than her cousin who wouldnât dare step foot in this town ever again. âiâd put money on the teen mom punching someone before the nightâs done, how about you?â
