I literally got all the characters from P3, P4 and P5. The picture was taken after I sent some to my friends in America~ but ahhhh, I’m so happy my coaster luck has been so good *V* Also for those of you who are waiting to play p5 in English--- DUDE, get hyped. It’s so worth the wait. It’s soooo good.

Yeah Dreamworks face is pretty bad, but just look at any harem anime protag those guys are literally the same people

But harem anime protagonists are supposed to look the same so that, basically, any Japanese (or I suppose asian) man could imagine himself as that character. They’re intentionally designed like this so that you could relate to the protag and follow his harem-y adventures as if it were your own. That is also why their personalities are typically bland.

then how do explain sports anime?

Well, in sports anime, most of the characters actually look fairly different aside from the prodigious types who actually fit within the same design scope as harem anime protagonists. The only difference is that in sports anime, those guys are more “stoic” externally and are generally very talented at what they do, which is very Japanese, if you think about it (they don’t like to show their emotions too much and they work hard to excel in club activities, work, school, etc). Therefore, it makes sense that the prodigious types are the most “Asian looking” of the bunch. (I suppose an exception would be Kuroko no Basuke, but you wouldn’t compare Izuki Shun to Nanase Haruka or Kageyama Tobio or Imaizumi Shunsuke or Echizen Ryoma, would you?) 

Anyway, both types of anime are appealing to the Japanese audience by having characters to relate to or associate with that are close in appearance.

(side note: I’m not making any comments on DreamWorks and how they design faces, I am simply explaining design elements with characters from Japanese animated works).
