Would you consider making another game for your perverted followers?
Absolutely! In fact, I think about it all the time. I’m trying to make my next game more engaging. Actual storytelling, a bit of dialogue, along with some cinematographic techniques like pans, zooms, dissolves, cross-fades, etc. Also parallax effect to simulate depth in the scene. Characters will also feel more alive with ambient animations like blinking and “breathing”. Pretty much the type of stuff that studios like Lesson of Passion are doing with their games. Basically a visual novel with sexy “mini-games”. Of course, all this means a LOT more work. As a solo developer you end up doing ALL OF THE THINGS: writing code, writing dialogue, posing and rendering visuals, sound editing, etc. I enjoy the process, but it does take heaps of time.
The good news is that I’ve made really good progress on the code-base. All the features mentioned above are already implemented. The bad news is that I haven’t built anything with it, yet.
Lately I’ve been exploring ways to generate audio clips of spoken dialogue. I’ve been experimenting with two separate approaches:
1. Record my own voice and manipulate it with software like MorphVOX or AVOX. My voice acting skills might be passable, but morphing a male voice into a sexy, believable female voice has proved to be a challenge. It’s not just a matter of pitch. I’m not satisfied with the results so far. Maybe with enough practice I’ll find the right combination of factors to make this a workable solution?
2. Use a TTS (text-to-speech) engine to generate clips of spoken dialogue. Some of the Ivona voices sound pretty damn good (for a machine), but are sorely lacking in emotional expressiveness. Suitable, perhaps, for a stereotypical android type character, or a lobotomized psychiatric patient, but not appropriate for a mostly normal human being in the throes of sexual ecstasy. That sent me down the path of using Celemony Melodyne in an attempt to add the necessary expressiveness. Melodyne is impressive, but the results for this particular application aren’t that great, either, but I’m still experimenting.
I should probably post some demos of both techniques and get some community feedback.
Does anyone know any females willing to donate their voice acting talent?
