āI swear to you that to think too much is a disease, a real, actual disease.ā
-Fyoder Dostoyevsky
āThe woman you are becoming will cost you people, relationships, spaces, and material things. Choose her over everything.ā

love means a lot of things, but romantic love doesnāt always have to equal a soul mate or lifelong partner. love is messy and stupid and it will upset you and disappoint you at times. love is never free of bumps in the road, it makes us grow and sometimes realise it is time to grow apart. take all of loveās lessons and carry them with you. realise that all your tears about love, paranoia, trust issues, worrying about loss are all just part of the course, and remember that the way you feel right now, if it is negative, will pass one way or another.
love changes and evolves, but that doesnāt mean you need to lose yourself to love. love openly, but donāt get so caught up you forget to take yourself with you on that journey, because sooner or later, youāll realise how far love has dragged you far away from who you are. love is supposed to dance delicately around your personality and life, not bulldoze any sense of self.
love appears and disappears everyday, and it will likely drag you to euphoric highs and detrimental lows, but that doesnāt mean it isnāt worth it. donāt let it take advantage of you, and donāt let it take over your life. if all else fails, at least keep a little love for yourself, because without that it is incredibly difficult to consistently be a loving person no matter how incredible the person receiving your love is.
Tattoos š
Sometimes I just sit and scroll through pictures of tattoos for hoursā¦god I canāt wait until Iām 18, only six months to go š„
an update on this very old post, it took me until I was 21 to get my first (and 2nd tattoo) but here they are - I have no good healed photos
prove them wrong.
Normalize not forcing people to choose you. If they think they can find better elsewhere ā let them. Respectfully.
A co-worker of mine was standing outside with me during a break from customers to share a cigarette with me, and told me about how he had lost his brother that he was close with some years ago. He told me about how they used to be in a band together with some friends, and how ever since he'd died, he hadn't played any music because he'd been too scared and anxious. I told him about how I'd lost my brother to suicide some years ago.
I went home and pulled out an old tiny wooden box my brother had given me before he'd died. I'd been using it to store guitar picks I'd collected over the years, including one guitar pick that used to be his. I haven't played the guitar since he'd died, my hands are too small to play some of the chords, so I play bass and piano instead.
I went to work the next day and gifted my brothers old guitar pick to my co-worker. I told him that it'd been sitting in a box for ten years unused, and would probably sit there for longer if I kept it there. Told him that I thought he deserved to have it, because I bet he could put it to better use than I ever would. Told him I didn't feel like it was coincidence that me and him would cross paths with each other in our lives, and that it seemed suiting that we had these similar experiences but split in two halves. That somehow, I felt like he was meant to have the guitar pick. I told him that I knew he'd not played guitar since his brother died, but that if he ever decided to play again one of these days, maybe he'd be able to honor both of our brothers by using that guitar pick.
He almost cried. He thanked me. Then he went home that night and for the first time in years he played the guitar.
I don't know what the meaning of life is or what my purpose is, but I do believe that love and human connection is one of the most important things in life. It's finding ways to tell strangers you love them and share experiences with others. I think it's all just about love.
āI may have lost someone who didnāt love me, but you lost someone who truly loves you.ā

You cannot make everyone think and feel as deeply as you do. This is your tragedy ⦠because you understand them, and they do not understand you.

Ok so, block, unfriend, unfollow, move on. Itās healthy, donāt make anyone think youāre a bad person for cutting out toxic people. Thatās it.
I think itās kinda scary being in a functioning relationship. Cause so often nowadays Iāll be sitting looking at my boyfriend thinking this boy is either gonna break my heart, or weāre gonna be together forever. And then I think about how scared I am that something bad would happen to him.
Honestly, caring does just give you more stress, but the pay off is so worth it because Iāve never felt more loved in my whole life.
spoiler alert, it wasnāt a functioning relationship either, I just had incredibly low standards because of āØtraumaāØ
i just saw a fb post where a man was arguing with a woman about the best way to make macarons and he kept insisting that she was wrong, and then eventually he was likeĀ āIāve never personally made macarons, but if you think about it what Iām saying makes sense, iām simply stating the obvious. iām sure there are plenty of youtube tutorials that would show you the same thing.ā and the woman replied by linking him to her instagram business page and she makes fuckin macaron towers for parties for a living and iāve been laughing about it for a solid 5 minutes.
Men automatically assume theyāre more of an expert on something than any woman on account of their dicks. Iāve never met such an ignorant and narcissistic creature as a male
Iāll never forget a time when a fb friend of mine posted that sheās on her way to hospital to give birth. Women commented withĀ āgood luckā and other encouraging messages. A manās comment was advice on how to give birth.Ā
You have got to be kidding me
So I was talking about Jekyll & Hyde (the book) at a writerās museum while we were looking at an Robert Louis Stevenson exhibit. I was giving my take on Jekyll, and my brother tried to counter it. I countered back easily, and then he said āwell Iāve never read the bookā

my ex, whose baking experience was pretty much limited to frying premade biscuit dough in boy scouts to makeĀ ādonutsā, would constantly try to correct me or give me advice on baking

met a dude at a party who was talking about physics and asked if iād ever listened to any online physics lectures bc he listened to all of this one series and they were so helpful and maybe i could learn some physics too

and am a published coauthor in astrophysics
theĀ best part is that the woman who invented the termĀ āmansplainingā (her name is Rebecca Solnit and i highly recommend her collection of essays) came up with it when she was at a party one night and a man tried to explain a book to her, and wouldnāt let her speak long enough for her to tell him that
she wrote the bloody book he was mansplaining to her
University isnāt just cute coffee dates and living with your friends. Itās hard work and I want everyone to stop fucking romanticing it so much.
Finally graduated earlier this year, and I must say, I still agree with this statement. My life is in no way much better now, but having the constant stress of always having something that needed done gone, is so incredibly relieving
