3. X&Y South East Asia Edition (Taiwanese Version)
X&Y might not be a fan favourite for everyone, but for a collector it was indeed a true nightmare. Uncountable tour editions have been made and even in those versions there are differences. First up: the South East Asia Tour Edition.

X&Y was a weird era to say the least and the album was rated their best yet by some and utter crap by others. If the album is their best or their worst is not up to me, but all I can say is that there were a lot of things to collect from this era. Loads of singles (thanks EMI) and special editions and re-releases of the album (thanks again EMI).
Why Should I buy this?
It's an awesome all in one package. It has the CD + all the b-sides (so no buying the singles if you're not into that) and some video's (even though I doubt you'd put it in your CD-rom drive in stead of just looking for it online). And I know, there are many version like this (Dutch edition, Australian tour edition,..), but what makes this release even more fun is the fact that it's Taiwanese. I love the taiwanese releases. They always come with a bunch of extras and look mighty fine. Just like this one. The OBI (that strip of unreadable signs at the bottom) is a temptation on it's own.
Why Shouldn't I buy this?
To screw EMI duh! One re-release after another and special edition this limited edition that. Srew you guys! And there's nothing new or unique about the content of this CD to be fair. All is available on the best record company evar: YouTube! And I guess that if you are interested in owning all the extra's, there are cheaper editions of this cd out there.

2. Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends 12" Vinyl + CD

The band's 4th studio album was highly anticipated and eventually came out on June 11th, 2008. For ther very first time, they asked Brian Eno to produce it and he definately had influence in the whole sound of this album, but I'll let you be the judge of that. As of today the album sold over 8 million copies, which isn't enough to do better than A Rush of Blood To The Head ( 12 million copies)
The cover art is of course La Liberté Guidant Le Peuple by Eugène Delecroix, but Tappin Gofton, who also did the X&Y covers, added the painted letters. He also designed the cover art of all the singles (except Strawberry Swing). The title was inspired by Frida Kahlo (painter who has known a lot of misery in her life, and Justin Timberlake (singer/actor who has had a lot of celebrities in his bed in his life). the painting 'Viva La Vida' inspired the title, while Timberlake inspired the band to have a title consiting out of 2 seperate titles like his album 'FutreSex/LoveSounds.
This version of the album is the US Capitol 12" vinyl version including a CD copy of the album. Like that isn't enough, the bookelt that is included in every CD release is also in there it's just 5 times bigger, which makes the artwork and pictures in there even nicer.
Why should I buy this
Ok I'm going to use this argument a lot but you should buy it because it's vinyl! Every album gains a little bit more magic when played on vinyl. Even just looking at it is magical. The advantage of this release is that it comes with a CD version as well, so you can drool all over the vinyl whilst listening to the CD version. That CD (picture below) by the way is often sold as a promo version of the album, which it isn't.
Another great reason is to witness the prudishness of the US of A. In continental Europe, the black sticker on the cover is always nicely on the side, whilst in America tactically place it in the area of the woman's breasts. Yee-haw
Why shoudln't I buy this
There aren't a lot of reasons to buy this actually, even if you haven't got a vinyl record player, you can still listen to it, but I guess useless to buy the vinyl when you're only planning to listen to the CD. There's no excuse to not have this album as a physical copy though!

Anyways, thanks to random.org I determined the 20 next releases I will talk about BUT if any of my selct group of followers has a special request, I'll be happy to handle it.

1. Safety EP
Even though every other releases here will be randomly chosen (or handled by request), I figured that for the very first one, I'd pick the grandmother of all Coldplay rarities: the Safey EP

This is the first ever official Coldplay release ever. The band and their manager (5th member Phil Harvey), decided to gather up some of their own money to pay for recording sessions. They recorded 3 songs in one single weekend in May '98 and they all ended up on this EP. They were so satisfied with the EP that they decided to make 500 copies of this, most of which they handed out to record companies and friends. It is said that some really ended up in the shelves (about 50 of them).
The Ep was produced by Nikki Rosetti and the cover art was made by Jonny's school friend John Hilton. It's a (blurry) picture of Chris performing at a gig. The name 'Safety' actually came from the photograph, from the little bit of writing on top of the camera film of which the picture was taken.
Why should I buy this?
Not only is it THE Coldplay CD that makes you go from amateur to pro collector, it's a piece of modern music history. Buying it will complete your collection, or just make you worshipped by every single coldplay collector.
Why shouldn't I buy this?
Because it's freaking expensive! Giving away a month's pay for just one CD is a bit ridiculous, even to me. + if you do buy this, i'll break into your house to steal it.
