Who knew there were so many types of gingerbread?? Courtesy of my uncle and his wife, I'm getting a taste of many different kinds of Nuremberg lebkuchen—or as we know it in the states, gingerbread. Nuremberg, Germany is considered the mecca of gingerbread and has a history of it dating back to the 14th century! Nürnberger Lebkuchen is a Protected Designation of Origin meaning that it must be produced within the boundaries of the city. Thank you David and Martina for this lovely and interesting present!
