After the last drawing I did of the sweaty mandrill I wanted to try again and make a version that was a bit more in the style of the show, so here's what started out as a portrait of Hugo that eventually turned into this weird psychedelic thing with gold floating into the sky and a nebula...because STARS. (I nearly had the gold droplets turn into the stars from his blanket, but it was a bit too cluttered so I left it be).

A redraw for a piece I made 6 years ago, original under the cut!

So with the redraw, I really wanted to play with the light and make the stained glass panels more consistent (less colors and less spaces with just way too many lines). I also wanted to get the characters more in line with the show's style and coloring, something that I think i maybe attempted in the original but dang I wasnt even close lol. I think the new one also has better composition and the posing on the characters and proportions on the stained glass are both more visually interesting (though the crop most social platforms do on a canvas this size isnt as kind lol).

I am (fortunately) not on twitter anymore, but back when I first posted this piece, it was retweeted by the creator and a va or two, which is still insane to me, hope they get a chance to see the new piece at some point and know that theyre still out here inspiring me years later! Thanks for lookin'

She looked fun to draw so here's my take on Porcelain from KATAOW!! I'm probably gonna try and do all the goth apes because they seem cool and we hardly saw them in kipo

I can imagine her as more of a bitchy, violent rainbow dash or like one of those kids in year 8/9 (so like 13/14 years old) thats really sassy and likes starting drama for no reason with the teachers and classmates. You know the type of person.

When she's all fancy and that she'd be the same at the core but more subtle about it since she has to be all dignified. She wouldn't go around punching people for the most part, more start gossiping behind their back to get what she wants.

My personal headcanon for Hugo’s sexuality is that he is gay but has only ever been attracted to, specifically, human men. He was raised by humans, during his biggest developmental periods they were all he knew and even after going up to the surface he can’t help but seek out the familiarity of human company especially after it becomes immediately clear to him that he doesn’t fit in with muted any more than he did with people back in the burrow.

He of course has decided to shove all those feelings deep deep down inside and simply not acknowledge them.
