IMPORTANT NOTE UNDER CUT!

Firstly, we want to thank you all for your continued patience with this story. This chapter has certainly been a long time coming.

These past few weeks we have been re-reading the story start to finish with the intention of picking up our original timeline. As we were reading, however, we both realized that we've grown quite a bit as writers and this story isn't developing the way we would like it to, nor is the planned timeline what we want it to be. In the next couple of chapters, we intend to wrap things up with an ending that offers more closure than the one we left when we went on hiatus. We haven't abandoned the possibility of rewriting this story at some point in time, but for now we hope this ending will suffice. There will be twenty chapters in total and you should see the next two fairly soon. Thanks so much for reading!

sooo when should we expect chapter 18 :))))

We’ve gotten a couple of questions and comments on the fic and while we appreciate your excitement and investment, some of them have been more than a little pushy so I’m going to use this ask as an excuse to address that. 

1. We love you guys. We ADORE you and appreciate you and are so glad that you’re still being so patient. However...

2. Please understand that time is a finite resource, and Kasey and I are both adults with a lot on our plates and very little time to meet and discuss and write. Rest assured, we are trying desperately to make it work, but with three jobs between us and opposing schedules, it it very difficult. Kasey just started training for a new job and I’m currently working two management retail positions as well as working as a department head for an upcoming convention this month, and that isn’t including family and social obligations. Every chapter it takes ten minutes to read may take us ten weeks to put together, and this is only exacerbated by the other things in our lives. Please be understanding. 

3. Living Things, while it is our most precious brainchild, is something we do for free and for fun. Sometimes, that means axing it for a time in order to get other things sorted out. Also, when it ceases to be fun it is VERY difficult to continue, and this is most pronounced when we get the occasional comment or email that is more than a little entitled or demanding. Please keep in mind that fanfic is a free service provided to you guys, not something we are paid to meet a deadline for.

TL;DR The project isn’t dropped, we’re trying our best but time is unfortunately a thing, please continue to be patient, PLEASE don’t forget that this is a free thing for you guys that takes a lot out of us, not something we owe to anyone or something we should be pushed to provide according to anyone else’s schedule or demands. 

We really do love you guys and appreciate you and we understand that you’re frustrated. We are too, believe me. If we could get chapters to you any sooner we would, but sometimes things get in the way. Please continue to be understanding.

First off, y’all are hella cool and even more hella patient. Thank you guys for hanging around so long, and for so many encouraging messages and comments. It’s meant a lot to the both of us!

We were indeed on hiatus for a while. Blah blah blah, shit happens, BUT Living Things and the Attack on Zombie project have been revived! Don’t lose faith in us just yet, it’ll only be a bit longer!

I don’t have an ETA for chapter 18 yet, but it’s in the works. It won’t be long.

Omg yessss Wild Type deserves all the praise. Just wondering. Is Living Things going to be continued?? Because I was never really a zombie fan. But that story just dragged me into the zombie-apocalypse world and left me amazed.

As of right now, Olivia and I do have plans to continue LT. The hardest part is finding the times when our schedules coincide because a lot of the time she is getting off work when I am going to bed or she is asleep when I am awake and so on. We probably should have declared a hiatus, but it was one of those situations where we were like, “NEXT WEEK WE’RE GONNA DO IT. NEXT WEEK. TOMORROW. THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW. THE WEEK AFTER THE WEEK WE–” I think we’re getting together on Skype today, though, to work on 18, so hopefully once we knock the dust off of it and get back into the swing of things we can kinda get past this.

Would any of you like to weigh in on that last ask? You’ve probably noticed that not only do our tags state that there will be rape in the story, but it will be bold-worthy, explicit rape. Olivia and I have discussed this a lot, almost since we started writing the original scene, and we still aren’t sure what we want to do with that rape tag. The way we had it written in the first draft, it is definitely worthy of that bold font, up front warning. It is, as I say in the ask, VERY uncomfortable. Right now we intend to either tone it down exponentially or push it off-screen altogether and just work with the aftermath. We’ve gone back and forth about it and we see pros and cons to both. We are both aware of how serious this subject is and we don’t want to be irreverent, however we both think that having the Eruris work through the aftermath is an important factor in how their relationship develops later in the story. As readers who have invested your time into this story, what do you think?

OOOOOH those two are getting hot and heavy! I'd really like to see the emotional reflection of both characters after the hot make-out session, I feel like that kind of got lost in the hotness~ But it was amazing, thank you! Also, just curious but I noticed some of the fic's tags like rape and drug use. Are they going to come up in the plot soon? I know you guys mentioned Levi and drug use in one of the new chapters.

There will definitely be emotions. Everyone is going to be feeling their feelings very soon. .___. We really, really need to update our tags. We’ve been working on it, but most of our communication these days is staggered. We’re rarely sitting there having a conversation at the same time, I guess. The past drug use and forced drug use will still be there, but the rape is going to be very toned down. It’s still necessary for the development of our plot, but the way we wrote it the first time is really REALLY explicit and it made us both uncomfortable reading back over it. I mean, it should be uncomfortable, but this was almost uncomfortable to a gross degree, so we’re working on a way to either tone that down or have it happen off screen. There are pros and cons for doing both. If it’s happening off screen, that spares the audience from the worst of it and allows you to focus on the aftermath, which is what we’re going for. Unfortunately, it also dampens the emotional response and makes for some narrative logistical problems. Both are still happening, and they’re happening pretty damn soon at this point, but we need to rework some of the rape stuff for sure. Neither of us wants to be irreverent with the subject of rape, but we do want to show the healing process, so we’re trying to find a good balance.
