Your character walks into my muse's room, only to find them fast asleep and half-hanging off of their bed, the blankets twisted into a mess around them. How does your character react?
—and it wasn’t long after the words were spoken that she felt arms encircle her, holding to her tightly; he clutched her as if she could slip through his fingers.
silence overcame the two easily, the tracer’s body shivering in a clear boasting of the panic that had previously stricken him. with face buried away in the crook of her neck and fingers clutching the back of— ah… was this his jacket she was wearing?— she didn’t dare speak a word; not just yet.
she supposed she had reason to believe she had almost died, just now— though, she couldn’t quite recall. they had been training in the nearby forest… and then they had gotten into a fight, about her using her fire. he said he hated her, and then… she woke up. now she was sitting in the grass, just in the middle of their training ground, with add on his knees, hugging her—
‘ there was a demon behind me. ’ he explained, voice strained against the effort it took to say it. ‘ i didn’t see it in time— but you did, and—… you shoved me out of the way… ’
ah… now she understood.
‘ and you must have healed me, then… correct? ’ she asked, voice lowering to a soothing tone; a hand rose to his head to brush through his silvery strands, resting her own head tentatively against his.
he didn’t respond, and she didn’t expect him to. swiftly, she wrapped her unused arm around the quivering boy, hiding her own face into his fluffy white locks.
‘ … heh, ’ she breathed quietly, a hesitant smile tugging at the corner of her lips. ‘ i thought you hated me? ’
but, of course, she knew that wasn’t true. she grinned at the whimper of defiance that escaped him, however, and the way he shook his head, pulling her tighter against him. a quiet chuckle left her and she hugged him tight, burying her face in his shoulder.
‘ ohh, don’t worry, you big baby. i’m fine. see? i’m not dead at all. so there’s no need to worry, right?
thin eyebrows furrowed as their owner heard the sentence pass from the lips of her white-haired counterpart. ruby eyes glared up through crimson eyelashes, a minuscule flash of anger lingering within them. he hated her? was that it, really? what a thing to say— he was such a toddler! such strong words to use— and simply because of, what— a few jabs at him, here and there? he couldn’t take a joke, could he?
if anything, she should be the one saying this to him! him, and his stupid pompous attitude, and his creepy behavior, and that god awful laugh— she had all the right to hate him, much more of a right than he had to hate her! she could turn it right back around on him, and she damn well should!
… alas, she wouldn’t. she wasn’t going to stoop to his level of infantry. she’s a big girl. if the boy decided to declare his hatred for her, then so be it. he probably wasn’t the first, and definitely would not be the last.
and, honestly… she didn’t. she didn’t hate him. not one bit.
‘ see if i care. ’
her gaze cast to the side defiantly as she spoke. while her tone clearly held venom, but there was also a hinted undertone of upset beyond her annoyance.
maybe she was hurt more than she’d like to admit. maybe the anger was simply a cover-up for the pang of sorrow that hit her in the chest upon impact of his words, or the lingering sense of loneliness that she wished to shoo off. but she would never hint it— she didn’t want to show one of the only weaknesses she held to him. such a personal thing wasn’t to be shared. but it was true— one of her biggest, baddest weaknesses— such a petty weakness it was, for such a strong girl— happened to be the one thing he finally managed to get her back with.
