may i inquire about why each parallel boy is designed the way they are in their more elaborate outfits? feelfree to take your time on this btw
Sorry for taking a while to get to this! A few people have asked this in the past so I’m gonna be as thorough as I can! I also typed in a rush so excuse the grammar mistakes.
Limit Boy/Deckard - Jacket is based off Piet Mondrian art. Pants have arrows that simulate a line (from line segment, ray, and line) from mathematics. He has a guitar pin as a hair clip. The large zipper is an isosceles triangle. The satchel is based off a blueprint paper. He has a lot of math references to show he is inundated with schoolwork/expectations.
Half-Empty Boy/Shemus - Hat is a fedora. His shirt with the bone imagery is meant to represent momento mori. His brooch on his chest is based off the blue evil eye. The coattails are meant to look like spinal cords. Their outfit is meant to look tacky/gauche and sloppily sewn together to show their countercultural nature/not wanting to follow the status quo.
Insertion Boy/Vincent - Loosely based off jirai kei/genderless kei styles combined with more garish ballroom/drag fashion. His boots are holographic to show his love for parties/raves. The rafflesia as his tattoo is known the biggest flower, but also smells rotten to reflect how Vincent views himself.
Wrecking Boy/Kai - Construction imagery and heavy inspiration on streetwear/tech-wear. He wears foot wraps to show his athleticism and being grounded to the world. Lots of security tape/reflective imagery to show that he views himself and his emotions as dangerous/volatile.
Bit-Rot Boy/Emilio - lots of electronics imagery such as his arm sleeve having a pattern of an integrated circuit board. He also has vaporwave imagery with the checkered pattern on his shorts and his necklace resembles Adonis. The shoes he wears are inspired by Yeezy Foam Runners. His bracelet also has a USB killer attached to it. Overall his aesthetic is meant to show his mischievous/uninhibited nature.
Anima Boy/Jedidiah - Preppy aesthetic of pastel colors often seen in frats. His helmet is based off large diamonds/face jewels. Lots of heart imagery. Even the sweater wrapped around his neck forms a heart shape, showing his need feel whole. EDIT: Also rabbit ears because they are cute (?) lol
Depletion Boy/Anatoli - Lots of hypebeast/trendy & expensive clothing that follows the mainstream. The alien imagery as well as his mask hiding his face displays his detachment from reality and the human race. His jacket is based off bape jackets, his phone case Gucci, and his shoes MSCHF boots.
Boundary Boy/Concert - Lots of yumekawaii/Y2K/harujuku inspired fashion. The cat imagery shows Concert’s independence. The butterfly hairclips symbolizes attachment to nostalgia and youth. Light menhera motifs with the bandaid and pill on his bandanna. His skates are based of ramune soda.
Missing Boy/Amir - His keffiyeh scarf resembles the checkered patterns of transparent pngs to show that he feels invisible. He also wears a digital/multi-scale-camo jumpsuit. The heels on his shoes are transparent, making him appear floating like a ghost/phantom. The badge on his shoulder is based off RGB pixels on screens.
Kid Aeternus/Demetri - A lot of buddhist motifs as his clothes is based off of monk robes. The symbol on his shoulder is meant to be the wheel of dharma and his pants are based off daruma dolls. I wanted to combined these themes of enlightenment/spirituality with child-like motifs. His backpack is based off a randoseru and the badge on his robes references the Japanese tulip name badge. His shoes are based off Air Jordans.
