Jason really hadn't expected it.
It had been the last thing he had been looking for, especially when the entire galaxy was going crazy the way it was.
People were dying, planets were struggling and everyone seemed to put the load on one Commander Shepard. He really, really did not want to switch places with the famed human spectre. He had more than enough keeping his own shit together without worrying about a unknown amount of eyes staring at him, expecting him to fix shit.
Rolling over to the side, Jason tightened his arm around his bedmate, smiling softly against the man's shoulder as the Sentinel finally opened his eyes and just looked at the man next to him.
One sexy, awkward man who had completely taken Jason's breath away quicker than he'd ever experienced.
If he believed in it, he would have called it love at first sight.
Heck... he didn't mind believing in it, especially now, when the world was so fucked up.
It made him feel a little better. A little warmed. A heck of a lot less lonely.
Lance inhaled deeply in his sleep, one arm tucked underneath the pillow and the other grasping for Jason's arm, squeezing it a little.
It had been a lot easier to cuddle in bed once that damn omni-cast had come off. Not that they had really let that cast hinder them from doing things together.
All sorts of things.
Leaning in, Jason pressed a warm kiss against Lance's neck, then shoulder, chuckling a little as the man next to him shuddered.
"Mmm... what time is it," was the sleepy response after a few seconds, but Lance made no attempts at moving in any way.
"Time to be lazy for a little while longer," Jason replied, then smiled as Lance turned around, rewarding him with a tired, but oh, so beautiful smile before burying his face against Jason's neck.
"Mm... I trust you on that, Commander..."
"Careful now, Commander," Jason teased, dropping a kiss to Lance's messed up, blonde hair. "The power might go to my head."
Jason chuckled softly again before closing his eyes, inhaling in deeply.
Taking a moment for themselves in all of this, appriciating whatever they could...
Just for five minutes longer.
