I've been thinking about this quote a lot because at first I thought Sina was being unsupportive, but as I have a 14 month old and have watched this movie just over a million times I realized I think she's more wistfully talking about Tui. And that's so sad.

I’m still on season 2 so don’t tell me any spoilers but so far I just don’t get why June has to have her hair cut, I mean, it is not like women go around showing their long locks. And she has it cut medium lenght, it makes no difference at all. I understand it as a reference to freedom but it is just meh. Burning the dress and cutting her own ear were far more rebellious acts than cutting her hair - imo.
