Order in the Chaos

So how do you create order in the chaos which seems to be often the case with the administration side of toy collecting? Up till now I haven't quite been able to pinpoint that one application which enables for instance a customised manner of building an #archive using scanable (#barcode or #QR) license info & pics from the manufactures combined with own pics and comments; while retaining a large flexibility such a provided in the #Collectorz suite... Anyonea clue?

What's a collection?

When does one consider his/her collection to be as such? When is it complete ? And, once you have it all, in all possible variations, does it provide that ultimate satisfying sensation a collector seeks...?

Why we collect

Reasons to collect can be as various as the collection itself, but I can only speak for myself. It's not out of greed, though it's a thin line with wanting to complete a collection. First of all, it's about the beauty of the collected objects; it provides a feeling of awe when looking at the details of the collected items, and the sheer joy of nostalgia... Secondly, it's about completing that collection, pure and simple. Last, but perhaps most importantly in my case, it's displaying, photographing & documenting the whole collection. A step which I've never reached, but will aim to as of now... It's a ride!

WHERE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO VISIT ON YOUR PLANET?

Let's see, in real world terms, I'd say my hometown of Leuven, and in SF-terms, it would be Coruscant ;-p

A move seems to be the best moment to reorganize ones collection and plan its logistics and display possibilities. In my case it's a house-improvement situation from which my various toy collections will benefit... First step is to find me an action figure that will act as a representative of the whole project... suggestions are welcome...

So SideShow finally consumed its wedding with HotToys, but with these remakes of classic figures (Luke Bespin, Boba Fett ESB), we aren't seeing really new characters in the 1/6 range. Sure they look awesome, highly detailed ...and expensive; but what about the collector, should we just indulge and yet another version of an existing collection figure. Meditate on this I will...

The current ComicCon has shed some light on the upcoming army builders from Sideshow Collectibles, which is somehow distressing for any SW-collector (be it newby or veteran)... especially when not all archetype figures haven't seen the light of day by these guys. 3PO & R2 to name a few...
