I just returned from the most incredible two week adventure to southeast Asia and actually met up with three beautiful human beings from my earlier days of Tumblr, which reminded me that this little crevice still exists and preserves who I was at these points in time.

Your writing soothes me somehow, and I always find myself wandering to your page-- like coming back to a favourite book, and always finding gems that you never thought you'd miss the first, or eleventh time you've read it. Something I've come to realize is that there is a misconception rampant in our society. In most cases, it isn't that life isn't long enough; it's that we waste so much time worrying about inconsequential events, or trying to impress people who don't matter. I want to be exceptional, but I recognize that I have inherent flaws, and that the best any of us can hope for is to be exceptionally human. There's no point apologizing for the choices I make, the company I keep, and the person I want to become. I'm done saying sorry for being me.

Currently, I'm a business technology analyst at Deloitte. I never saw myself in consulting, but it makes sense given that the passion that I decided to follow as a career path is a love of learning. As cheesy as this sounds, I've always been interested in learning as much as possible about everything. That's a lot of the reason I picked statistics as a major; it serves as an intersection for many disciplines, and there are boundless possibilities with what you can pursue because every field has data that needs analysis. Even though I graduated early and people assume that I have everything figured out, I don't have a "dream job" yet. I have no idea what I will be doing in a few years, but part of being successful is being willing to take chances, and the uncertainty is exciting in some ways. Consulting gives me the chance to explore many different fields, and I'm using this opportunity to figure out which of my interests is best for me to pursue. Ultimately, follow your gut and stay committed to your decision once you've made it.

With respect to achieving success: I don't know that I'm qualified to say that I'm there yet. Success is impossible to define because it is constantly evolving over time. When I graduated from high school, receiving the Park Scholarship could be considered a huge success, and when I graduated from college, landing a job at one of the Big 4 consulting companies could be another... but when I think about it further, getting through high school might be the most difficult thing for some people who had to work or had issues at home.No matter how hard you work, I think everyone needs a bit of luck.

I believe that the biggest obstacles to success are failing to take risks and doubting yourself. Success is fleeting, and failure does not define you unless you allow it to. The critical thing is to find the strength to keep pushing, even if the odds seem stacked against you. It's also worth nothing that it's impossible to reach perfection, and once you've accepted that, you can work constantly to achieve success as you see it in that moment. In order to achieve success, I think the most important thing is to have confidence. All of us as human beings have the potential to accomplish great things. If you don't believe in your ability to succeed and flourish, then why should anyone else? Stay humble, but don't shy away from telling people about the great things you've done.
