DETERMINATION remained on boy’s scarred face, good eye squinting slightly up at the other. Gloved hands flexed against heavy WEAPON, lowering only when he deemed the Mandalorian to be no more than another nuisance. Shouldering rifle, he scoffed in response, carefully stepping around bodies of troopers left to be buried. For someone who was supposed to be searching their HUSKS for parts, Hiro seemed reluctant to do so with the man lingering around.
“ Good thing I didn’t ASK for your input, ” Hiro said, SARCASM heavily applied, “ You don’t KNOW me, so back off. ”
Crouching, he looked over one of the troopers, frowning at the dirt and mud caked to the side of their helmet. Dragging his thumb along the plastoid, he cleared enough to see scuffed paint. Shoulders dipped as he sighed in DEFEAT - more troopers forced to erase their individuality for the sake of the EMPIRE. Lifting his scanner, he moved it over the armor before stopping at the loud beeping. He reached to the other’s belt and mumbled a soft apology before pulling loose a string of unused DETONATORS. He quickly clipped them to his own belt and moved to stand, using his rifle for balance.
“ If their helmets are on, I’m not taking them OFF. They were PEOPLE, you know… ”
The lightsaber marks were concerning. He wasn’t sure if they originated from a running Jedi… or the SITH who seemed content ruining the galaxy. Hair rose along the back of his neck at the thought, a shiver forcing its way down his spine. He needed to go HOME.
“ If you keep staring at me, I’m gonna punch your VISORS out, ” he warned, casting the Mandalorian a side glance, “ Aren’t all of you HUNTERS these days ? I promise you, I’m not worth that many CREDITS. I’m just a nobody. ”
Left at the Temple to become something greater, he’d become NOTHING. A fugitive on the run for the rest of his life, guarded by TWO soldiers who had the same path. His BROTHER had wanted him to help people… but it wasn’t going the way he’d planned. If he could see him now, Hiro was sure he’d be disappointed. Looking over the field of fallen men, Hiro felt his stomach twist. It wasn’t RIGHT - they were just LEFT there… like they were nothing. He turned to regard the Mandalorian with a studying look before he shrugged a shoulder.
“ HEY - you ! Guy. You got a SHOVEL on your fancy ship ? ”
An uninterested hum filtered through modulated helmet, attention on the small boy that claimed to be scrapping. The snippy response bothered the Mandolorian little, his reason for being here rather different than scrapping. He was trying to figure out what took down so many clones in one go... They were often times wiped out quickly, some getting unfortunately hit as soon as they made it on the battle field but... that didn’t look like the case here. Too many littered the area and some helmets strayed from their original owners. Foot hooked under one stray that was near to get a better look at one that was by him, shifting the helmet to try to get a sense of color from paint aside from the blank white. These troopers were taken and wiped, same as a number of others.
“I know.” He moved to gently scoop the helmet up and settle it with a nearby clone. Perhaps something that would be out of the normal for a regular mandalorian... but not for him. He could recognize something out of the ordinary when he found it. Though his attention was dragged back to the scrawny person after a while. “Most. My job here isn’t a bounty. It’s information. It’s my job to find out that happened to these troopers.” Not that he thought it would matter... he assumed they were dumped... it looked like many were given armor to make it look like a battlefield. “They didn’t die here.” The clone he set the helmet next to had been gone for a week at least. While some others looked fresher. A frown settled over the hidden face of the young mando, his helm tilting as he shifted to look at another trooper without a helmet. None of this added up.
His attention moved back after a moment, helm tilting a moment before he glanced back towards his ship. “A couple. Why?” Whatever happened here was disturbing, of course... but the bodies would keep showing up. Even later on. I need to find out what happened to these men. Clones or not... they didn’t deserve this. No one did. The other would likely not like what the mando was about to do, gloved hands moving to pull the neckline of the underarmor down on one of the helmeted troopers, noting any injuries there before removing the helmet to check for any other injuries. lines on his head, indicating being tied down. Strapped down... any of those... Helmet was replaced gently before he moved to check the wrist and helm moved to look back up at the helm of the trooper he was inspecting. A soft phrase was spoken in native tongue, the hand of the trooper moved to rest on his chest before the mandalorian moved to stand.
He was silent as he moved to walk towards his ship in the distance, helm still studying the bodies in the area while he walked. “If you want those shovels, come on.” He can at least help and make sure he gets where he needs to go safely before going where he needs to personally. The village nearby would hopefully get some answers.
