High School// Richie Tozier
Pairing: Richie Tozier x Reader
A/N: Iâm sorry for my lack of posts, once again, school started once again and already the teachers have been slamming us with work, projects, tests and such. I wrote this when I was supposed to be studying lmao, I hope you enjoy it, and Iâm already working on the requests, it might take some time but I WILL post everything!
Richie heard the bell ring, the freshmen already pushing through, trying not be late. He laughed slightly at the though of his friends doing the same thing, years ago, as he made his way to his locker, where Ben, Bill and Bev were already blissfully chatting. They seemed to be conversing about a new student who had just transferred.
"Is she hot?" Richie chuckled, opening his locker. "Maybe she can have a taste of my-"
"Nice to see you too" Beverly interrupted, swatting his arm. "I don't know why anyone would come to this cul-de-sac of a place, specially on their senior year, but I heard her mom got transferred quite recently here."
Richie closed his locker, taking his needed books. "But the year already started a few weeks ago, why would she move now?" he heard Ben question. "She lost a lot of material already."
Bill rolled his eyes before chuckling. "H-how about w-we wo-wor-worry about getting to cl-class instead of the new girl?" Although he still stuttered from time to time, he was definitely improving drastically.Â
He started pushing his friends towards their classroom when Richie stopped dead on his tracks. "Is that the new girl?" He questioned, pointing to the furthest desk in the room, back row, next to the wall, away from everyone. "I would definitely like her bent over-" before he could continue, Beverly slugged him in the head.
"I swear if one more word comes out of your mouth-" she threatened, sitting down in her seat. "The girl looks like she's ready to bolt out at any moment, don't make it any harder for her."
In fact it was true, you were quickly averting your sight from place to place, your hands holding the desk with such strength, your knuckles had turned white. âShe does not look keen on socialisingâ Richie thought to himself as he sat in front of you.
The classes seemed to pass rather rapidly and before he knew, Richie was standing with a tray filled with food, trying to look for a table so him and his friends could stay. Instead he saw you, sitting all alone, your eyes glued to a book, your headphones on your head. âShe's probably into weird songs.â he thought to himself as he analysed you. You looked rather off-putting, alone with your book in a table for four. He took another glance at you before turning to his friends and telling them he would be eating with someone else that day.
He set the tray in front of you, trying to attract some attention towards him, unfortunately he just nearly missed the table, resulting in his plate of food dropping in the ground. You looked up from your book slightly, trying to see what all the commotion had been for, before looking right back at it, blush forming on your cheeks. This was not what you had bargained for. You had always been a loner, an outcast, no one seemed to want to talk you, and you were more than happy with that. Not having any friends meant no disappointments, no fake friends, nothing but time to do whatever you pleased without having to leave your house against your own will. You just wanted to be left alone, was that too much to ask?
"I'm Richie" the boy smiled holding his hand up. "And you are?"
"In fear of becoming a huge clichĂŠ, I'm leaving" you pursed her lips, putting your book down and picking up your tray. "And you should probably clean that up, seeing it's your fault after all." You pointed to the food on the floor.
"You're not even going to tell me your name?" Richie laughed, setting a hand on your arm. "Come on, I made a fool of myself for you." He smiled sweetly at you.
"No one asked you to." You shook his hand away. "Besides, I hate being someone's pity case" You looked at him once more, the smirk on his lips taunting you. "I don't know what you thought, but I'm quite content with being alone, it doesn't bother me, in fact I prefer it."
Richie took his hand away, putting them up in defeat. "I just asked for a name, sweet cakes. Although I can think of some other things I could call you." His smirk seemed to grow as he winked at you.
"And I can think of some rather unpleasant things I wish I could do to you right now." You half smiled before starting to walk away.
"So you're really not gonna give me a name, darling?" Richie called after you.
You looked at him up and down before setting your tray on your hip, looking at him accusingly. "No offense, but I would rather hit myself in the ankle with a scooter 10 times than have you call me 'darling' ever again."
As you walked away, Eddie went up to his friend, a broom in his hand. "That went well." He laughed handing Richie the cleaning supply. "I don't think that girl was really up to befriend you."
"Oh mark my words, Eddie," Richie smiled, taking the broom from his friend's hand "she will be going to Alladin with me, this is not the end!â

As the weeks passed, Richie continued his quest to make acquaintances with you, (Y/N), as he had discovered during one of your shared classes. The more you pushed him away, insisting you were better off alone, the more intrigued he was by you, the more he wanted to be around you. During lunch breaks he would always sit at your table, and while at the beginning you used to get up whenever he seemed to be walking your way, as time passed you let him sit with you, provided you didn't mutter a single word and just listened to your music while reading your trusted book, away in your own little world, too lazy to continue switching tables when the boy wanted to be with you. To Richie, on the other hand, it was progress: it meant you didn't despise him as much as you did in the beginning.
One lunch break, Richie seemed to be extra annoying and kept pushing all your buttons, calling your name thousands of times, asking a millions questions about anything and everything, pushing your book down so you couldn't possibly read, poking your arm endlessly, amongst other things.
"Can you stop?" you screamed, slamming your book down as Richie's annoying smirk seemed to have fallen on his face again. "Why can't you just leave alone, dude, I mean it, I don't want friends, and I certainly don't want you." You looked at Richie, a disgusted look on your face, as you picked up your tray to leave. "I don't know what you're trying to pull, but honestly I couldn't care less. I mean it. Leave. Me. Alone. Got it? I don't care about you, I don't care about your plans, I donât give a damn if you just really âwant to be my friendâ or not. You're just some childish, class prankster, who uses jokes as a coping mechanism to help with his own internalised issues and sadness. Because that's who you are, some sad loser who keeps bugging a girl even after she has told you thousands of times to leave her alone."Â
As you left, you took another quick glance at Richie, the look on his face alone was enough to make you feel bad. You shouldn't have been so aggressive, you shouldn't have been so mean, after all he wasn't doing anything wrong, he was just trying to help you with your supposed loneliness. You shook your head, walking faster away from Richie. No, he had annoyed you, pushed you, followed you from class to class, insisting on becoming friends even after you had rejected him countless times. Had you been rude? Sure, but you did what had to be done to avoid any more conflicts with the Tozier guy, it was like the didnât know what ânoâ meant. He was always making sexual jokes, pulling pranks, just being overall disgusting.
However, if you were being true to yourself, you had grown to quite enjoyed them, they made you laugh, they made your classes more interesting. And even if you didn't mean to ever say it to yourself, deep down you always looked forward to lunch breaks, when you could see Richie. Deep down you knew he was a nice boy, who had the best interests at heart, even when they didnât seem to show at first, you just... knew.
You sighed remorsefully leaving the cafeteria, part of you saying you had just made a mistake, telling you to go back and apologise, say you didn't mean to say that, tell him the truth, how you were just afraid to let someone in your life, afraid that they were gonna leave you, afraid they were going to hurt you.Â
You made your way to the bathroom, quickly closing the door as you entered one of the stalls, your breathing starting to become heavy. You felt your chest close, your palms started to sweat. Oh how you hated the attention you had received, it felt like the first day of school once again, when everyone was looking at you, trying to get a good look at the ânew girlâ, only this time the attention you has received was due to your rudeness towards teh one and only Richie âTrashmouthâ Tozier. 'No!' you thought to yourself, trying to shake off the feeling of regret and sadness that seemed to be clinging onto your chest 'No! I have nothing to apologise for, I didn't do anything wrong!' you tried to grab the walls around you, closing your fists as you pressed them harder against the walls. 'Did I?'
As you tried to calm yourself down, you heard the bathroom door open, two pairs of shoes coming in. You knew those shoes, he always wore the same pair everyday. "They're sneakers and don't smell, what more could I possibly find in another pair of shoes?" You had heard Richie tell Stanley Uris one day. What could he want now, hadn't he done enough already, hadnât you done enough already?
"Hey, uhm, I know you probably don't want to talk to me right now, which I totally get, really I mean, I was way out of line, I shouldn't have done all those things but uhm, I guess I just wanted to apologise?"
You opened the stall door slightly, looking at the tall, curly haired boy. One strand had fallen over his glasses and you felt the odd urge to move it away from his eyes. "No, no, don't apologise. You- you were just trying to be nice. I was rude and inconsiderate, I shouldn't have said those things."
"Babe, trust me, your words might've hurt, yeah I mean, they came from you," you blushed slightly at the comment, looking away from him. "but it's not like Bowers hasn't called me anything worse, it's not like my friends haven't called me anything worse. Hell, it's not like I haven't called myself anything worse!" He took your hand in his, before quickly dropping it again. "I'm sorry for everything, I promise I won't disturb you again." He put a hand over his heart. "Scouts honor!"
You giggled, taking his hand back in yours and giving it a little squeeze. "Are you even a scout?" he shook his head, his eyes stuck on your hands, intertwined. "You have nothing to apologize for, I just don't like when people take pity on me, and well, it's my choice to alone, trusting people is hard and I don't feel like getting hurt anytime soon." You sighed, scratching the back of your head, your gaze falling to the ground. "Idowanttobeyourfriend" you breathed silently hoping he hadn't heard you. Much to your despair, he had heard you clearly, as you could guess from the silly grin on his face.
"You do?" he choked, his smile growing even larger. "Why?"
"I- I honestly don't know" You laughed, pulling on your ears, a nervous habit you had picked up at a very young age. "You seemed to be the only person who has ever shown interest in me and I would be kidding myself if I said I didnât envy you, you know, with all your friends to spend time with, to go to the cinema with, to just relax with. I guess maybe I should give this whole friendship thingy a shot." You smiled brightly at him, as he pulled you in for a hug.Â
"You know, we could just skip this 'whole friendship thingy' and go straight to dating" He winked as you pulled away from him, swatting his arm, playfully.
"If you keep making those jokes I will seriously end you." Even though your words were serious, there was a smile on your face. "I guess I should properly introduce myself first, right? I don't know the whole protocole here..." you looked at the ground, embarrassed.
"Did you just say you didn't know the 'protocole' of a friendship?" Richie repeated, his hands immediately hugging his belly as he laughed at the epitome of introvert that stood before his eyes. "I'm Richie." He smiled once he had calmed down. "Richie Tozier"
"I'm (Y/N). It's really nice to meet you Richie."
