I’ve just finished marathoning “The Alienist” and “Grimm”. Both on very different ends of spectrum regarding story. “The Alienist”, written by the same writers who wrote True Detective, remained very true to the story tropes and that style that worked so well in True Detective. The characters as a result was extremely intriguing and the time it was set in helps to limit their options within the story. “Grimm” takes the story of “Brothers Grimm” and twists it into a modern setting for a modern audience. So, we start shooting Waterside Season 4 around 8 hours from now. That’s absolutely mad and as always, I feel totally unprepared. This new season is so much bigger with so many more moving pieces. It’s a step closer to the final end that we’ve all been working towards. But with the support of my fellow producer, @petermgeorge - we can do it. I think we take Waterside is brand new directions this season. Watched “The Greatest Showman” and “Winchester” tonight. I’m not overly fond of musicals, but could appreciate the film and the messages it held and served within. So, I saw Avengers: Infinity War today and I quite enjoyed it. However, there was one issue I had with it - I feel as though there was too much going on. There were three to four stories going on at once and I’m still not really sure what was going on in some of them, as a result, I don’t feel we got enough time with each set of characters. But also, I suppose we don’t need to, we’ve seen a lot of these characters in previous movies. I’ll think on it and potentially have a second viewing. Finally watched “Dunkirk”, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” and “Baby Driver”. All three films were an interesting watch. Baby Driver has amazing Sound Design and Score, Dunkirk has great use of suspense, action and drama, all backed by a truly inspirational event. Pirates of the Caribbean 5 however, I wasn’t overly fond of. I felt like it should’ve ended as a trilogy. The fourth and fifth instalments are not best representing that franchise. Finished the third season of Black Mirror. Rather than make an overall post about it, I figured I’d summarise my favourite episodes from the previous three seasons. Favourite episodes are: “The Entire History of You”, “The Waldo Movement”, “White Christmas” and “San Junipero”. This series really is something. Parts of it are so close to reality too, it’s really eerie. Finally, after nearly four years, I have seen The Disaster Artist. I have been waiting to watch this since I first heard about it back in 2014. This film did surprise me though, whilst it does follow the hilarious, yet strangest, set of events that created “The Room” (2003), it does also follow the stresses that everyone on set goes through. Blimey, the amount of moments I’ve related to in this film whilst on set, it’s too many to count. It felt like a very personal movie to me, a person, no Hollywood experience, wants to make a movie. Finally got round to watching the three short films that bridge that gaps between the Blade Runner sequels. I really enjoyed them, great, concise and short narratives that give a new insight on Blade Runner 2049.
