Romantic endeavours scored close to nothing on her dwindling list of priorities. Survive, conquer, maintain what they had acquired. To divulge personal attention to aspects any more human than they above would display weakness — a side of herself she couldn’t expose.
Like a raw wound, and Joel, the world, the blood and steel, pierced through.

“Simple.” A smile was tasted on her words. “I don’t have to.”
✓ - How do they react to praise?
Compliments came fast and few these days.
And from a single, primary, gruff toned source.
Every bullet she aimed and fired, they were painted with his name. They supported each other, broke and completed each other, to a point she still didn’t quite comprehend. Success was found under his hand — and failure, all the same.
“I take it as it comes.” The corner of her lips twitched, fell into a slight purse. “And, I s’pose, reciprocate the sentiment when it’s deserved. Takes a big man for a pat on the back from me.”
☾- Are they prone to nightmares or dreamless sleep?
— Such a question stalled her, only from the twisted breath which now hung in her throat. Nights, they —… occasionally short lived. No one slept more than was utterly obligatory, and even so, she found the call of rest far less inviting than it had once been.
