connie howard was born to lindsay serena howard, a homemaker and leonard sean howard, lawyer to the mayor of hawkins. she is the 3rd oldest of 6 kids.

she has a an older brother by 1 year, named oscar charles, a twin brother, who is older by 3 minutes, named justin henry, a brother younger by 4 years named stanley fredrick, another brother younger by 6 years named christopher humphery howard, and a sister younger by 11 years named caroline amelia howard

connie is seen as a bit of a creep due to her werid fascination with horror and her insistence that horror is purely psychological

she was supposed to go to university but she 'forgot' to send out her college applications. she wants to write horror novels however when her parents discovered she didn't send her college applications, they cut her off which thus caused her to start working at family video.

regarding echos, she has visions of chrissy cunnigham whenever eddie enters family video, or passes by her.

she is deeply unsettled, yet fascinating by the fact billy and eddie coming back to life but avoids both at all costs, a) since she thinks billy is an asshole and b) she doesn't like seeing visions of chrissy (which scares her)

she has a fear of loud sounds (but usually she's fine with movies, and music)

Honestly, Connie couldn't believe what she was doing here. On a date. With Steve 'the Hair' Harrington. Her once sworn enemy.

She took the snow cone from his hand. It was covered in strawberry sauce (or whatever the fuck it's called). "Thanks, don't worry about strawberry is my favorite flavor," she said, taking a bite, and sighed, closing her eyes. "I swear I would totally go home with a living strawberry-flavored snow cone."

Some of it dripped down her chin.

"Great, cool." Steve chuckled, digging into his own green, lime flavored snow cone.

It was a weird feeling being on a date with Connie. Not because he didn't want to be, but just because he had never considered she would want to be on a date with him. Even if this was just to prove her theory right, he wanted to make sure she had a good time.

"You might be taking something home," he joked as he used a napkin to wipe her chin.

Connie ignored the weird feeling in her stomach when he wiped her face.

Behind him, she spotted Kelly Hudson behind him, staring at them. When she noticed Connie staring at her, she averted her gaze and continued talking to her friend.

"Kelly Hudson was totally staring at you," she said when he pulled away. "One girl down. Let's see how many more we can get, and then you can finally shut up about not finding any dates."

the parade was so crowded, steve worried he would lose his date before it even started. thankfully, connie was easy to pick out in a crowd. with bright hair and dark clothing, she stood out in a way he hadn't noticed before. they had been working together for awhile, but so had he and robin.

the fact he had totally confess to robin in the past was a non factor as he held two fresh snow cones in his hands.

"excuse me," he spoke gently as he made his way through the crowd, finding his way back to connie.

"if you totally hate this flavor i will go back, but i hope you don't," he spoke jokingly, but he was serious about going back.

Steve was a little surprised she accepted, but he decided to go for it. "Cool, you doing anything for Memorial Day? There's a lot of fun stuff going on, so that might be better than a movie." They worked in a video store, so it felt too cliche to take her out to the movies.

Conrad swallowed the bite of chocolate, arching a brow at Connie curiously.

“Nah, only when they wanna piss me off. And be of them tried to make ‘Conman’ thing back when we were little, but it never stick.” Conrad said, seeming to be weighing how to handle Connie’s flirtatious tone.

He settled on putting a hand on her shoulder, knuckled scarred but his touch gentle and warm as he looked at her dead on.

“Keep holding out for who you actually want, Connie. Don’t settle for second rate.” And it was shocking, how honest Conrad sounded.

A chuckle, “Even if I make second rate look this good.” The tall man squeezed Connie’s shoulder, before getting to his feet and dusting off his ripped jeans.

“I should probably scram. Need to get home and start dinner.” Conrad glanced down at Connie once more, lip curving up into a small, kind smirk.

“Don’t forget about holding onto Nightmare for me, okay? Gotta fox that nasty reputation you’ve got as a horror hoarder and all.”

"Uh," Connie seemed a little unverved by his sudden change in attitude. "'Kay, stop by family video soon, or else I'm gonna keep Nightmare forever,"

Connie likes wandering. Early in the morning. Before she starts her shift at Family Video, she always goes to the diner to grab coffee and some pancakes. It was also a way of escaping the looming question of whether or not she would go to college.

Today was going to be like any other. She walks to Family Video, David Bowie's Heroes, playing faintly in her ears. She opens Family Video and slowly sets everything up to start the day, before going to the door to switch the CLOSED sign to OPEN. On her way back to the counter, she notices that someone had brought back 'A Nightmare on Elm Street", she grabs it, deciding to watch it as she rewinds tapes. As she pops in the VHS tape in the TV and starts rewinding, the sound of bells ringing alerts her to a customer.

"Just ask me if you need anything," she says not moving her eyes from the TV.

Unlike his usual morning routine, Jonathan had decided that he'd watch a movie. Only, the Wheeler house wasn't exactly stacked with his favorites. In fact, most of the films they had were ones he'd made fun of thousands of times. So there he was at Family Video just as it opened, walking through the door and making a beeline for where he knew the movies he liked rested.

He barely paid any attention to Constance, who he knew and could hear watching one of her horror movies—he used to really enjoy horror, especially The Evil Dead, but he didn't exactly watch a lot of it anymore. Living a horror movie for years tends to do that to a person.

Except, today, he would have to interact with Connie. Because apparently they had reorganized the store a bit and none of the movies he was used to watching were in their rightful places. "Hey—Connie, where did you hide all the good stuff?"

Connie paused her movie and turned to face Jonathan. "What do you mean, the good stuff. We organised them by genre, and then within genre, we organised alphabetically. Besides, we have different tastes. I dunno what you like," she said, walking up to him. "I didn't take you to be a rom-com lover, Jonathan," She nodded her head towards a small sign, written in her careful handwriting, whih read 'Romance'. She had finally convinced Keith to let her add signs to indicate the genres because for some reason he didn't include it. She also had recently reorganised the shop based on popularity. Lots of people in Hawkins seemed to prefer romance movies and action packed, so those were in the front, towards the back were the other genres, horror, thriller, drama, foregin films, and as of recently, adult films, which was in another room. Suprisingly, no one from the church tried to get shut down, and it did increase clinetele. Notably old men and boys between 18 and 27 years old.

Jonathan stepped away from the romance movies, hands up like he'd touched something disgusting. "God, no," he shook his head dramatically. "The Outsiders, American Graffiti... coming-of-age drama, you would call it."

He glanced at the TV, then back at Connie. "Sorry. Didn't mean to bother you."

Connie grinned at him and grabbed a random VHS tape from the Romance shelf. "Aw, Jonny, didn't Nancy take you to see any romance movies?" she said teasingly, waving it in front of his face. "I know the girl, even if she won't admit it, loves a good romance movie."

Jonathan rolled his eyes, ignoring the movie. "Yeah, she loves a good romance. Can't say I do—always the same story every time: get together to fall in love, get pulled apart by some outside force or misunderstanding, end up together at the end. It doesn't require any thought." He took another step away from the romance, shaking his head like it disturbed him. "Not my kind of movie. But sure, you can go ahead and take one, Connie."

"Jesus, Jon," Connie said, putting the movie back. "I knew you were pretentious about music, but movies too," "American Graffiti? You're in luck, my friend. Yesterday, a bunch of churchgoers came here with a petition, handed it to Keith, and made him get rid of a bunch of movies that were too violent," Connie said, going behind the counter to grab a box filled with VHS tapes. "American Graffiti happens to be among them,"

"Hey, I'm not pretentious, I just have taste," he shrugged.

"Too violent, really?" Jonathan shook his head, leaning against the counter. "What else they get rid of? The Goonies, with all their guns and pirates?" he chuckled.

"That's what a pretentious person would say, Mr. Byers," Connie replied, bringing the box over.

"Haha. They kept it. But got rid of Risky Business, so I'm gonna give this to Nancy for her birthday,"

"Puh-lease," Connie rolled her eyes. "I bet you're just imagining their disappointment because ever since you stopped being 'King Steve', you're super insecure since you were desirable playing a role in high school, when girls in reality like guys who are both attractive and sincere. Heck, remember Kelly Hudson? The brunette with green eyes was totally hot. She asked about you the other day, and looked disappointed that you still hadn't asked her out." Connie shook him by the shoulders. "If it bothers you so much, ask me out on a date, and we'll see how many girls get sad,"

Steve resisted laughing at the suggestion, not because he was against it, but because he was almost sure she just wanted a chance to reject him. "Fine. Do you want to go on a date with me, Connie?" He asked sincerely before he could convince himself not to.

"I would love to go on a date with you, Steve," Connie said, with a smirk. Hey, she loved shocking people. And, she secretly thought to herself, it was about time he asked her out.

"Maybe, let them go somewhere. It's easy. Just ask them out on another date. And be real. Girls love realistic guys. I'm sure there is THE girl out there waiting for you to make your move," Connie said, dramatically, pointing at him.

"Oh gee, I hadn't thought of that." He shook his head as he crossed his arms. "Believe it or not, my reputation doesn't do me any favors. I can be as real as I want with you or Robin. But I do that in front of other girls, and it's like I can see disappointment written all over their faces."

"Puh-lease," Connie rolled her eyes. "I bet you're just imagining their disappointment because ever since you stopped being 'King Steve', you're super insecure since you were desirable playing a role in high school, when girls in reality like guys who are both attractive and sincere. "Hooked on weed and horror? Constance, I think you might have a real problem." Conrad said, voice comedically serious as he leaned in as though to tell a secret, lowering his voice to a whisper. "...of being a selfish fucker." Conrad said, before breaking into a grin and chuckling, "There- I'm nothing if not a man of my word." Conrad said at a more normal volume, before offering her a nod. "I do want, yes please. And once I have it in my hand, I will retract your title. You can go back to just being a garden variety horror junkie, rather than a horror bogart." Conrad teased, before making a dismissive noise upon hearing about the church's antics. "Fucking shocker. We could get nuked out of orbit in an instant, but they wanna clutch their pearls over some tits and fake blood." Conrad reached up, cracking his neck with a groan and shaking it off before looking at Connie once more. "So, onto more interesting things. I saw that you and Harrington have been talking more lately outside of your work as of late." Conrad pried, knowing behind his dark eyes as his lip quirked into a little sideways smirk that seemed to say everything and nothing at once. "What's that all about?" Nothing wrong with being a bit nosy, now that he knew he'd be getting his hands on his prized Wes Craven film.

She stubbed her joint on the ground. "We were talking about my siblings. I've been trying to convince him to babysit my sister and brother, sometimes since I have life."

A thought occurred to her.

"Why do you know that anyway? Have you been stalking me?"

Conrad couldn't stop the chuckle that bubbled up from his throat, warm and amused, "Uh huh. That's why your face just got all red, because he's an idiot. Also, who mentioned a thing about dating? Sounds like someone has a guilty conscience, Constance." Conrad teased, though his eyes softened as Connie mentioned her siblings. "He was always chauffeuring around that group of younger kids like a momma duck. Guess he ended up finding his knack for it." Conrad mused, letting out a scoff at the accusation of stalking. "No, Connie. I know I get bored, but I'm not so starved for entertainment that I'd stalk you." Conrad said, making a show of rolling his dark eyes skyward before giving a little shrug. "You guys just seemed closer lately, that's all. And I mean, Steve 'The Hair' Harrington? Who could blame you if you did have a thing for him? The dude isn't exactly hard to look at."

Conrad said, offering Connie a flat, unimpressed look as he stubbed out his roach before it could singe his fingers. "They broke up ages ago. Like, actual fucking ages ago. And honestly? I'm not convinced Harrington has a type beyond 'female' and 'not hideous'." Conrad said, looking over Connie briefly before shrugging. "And you fit both criteria. So forgive me for making some educated guesses." Conrad's dry sass seemed to retreat a bit, slightly tired brown met Connie's. "But hey, maybe I'm wrong. I did just barely graduate, and I'm still not convinced it was just to I could play in the end of year game." Conrad said, giving a self satisfied chuckle. "Fuck knows the team needed me to help out." he said, allowing a touch of that old jock confidence to leak into his tone, before he continued on. "Point is, who gives a shit about what I say? If you and Harrington wanna start hooking up again, that's not any of my business." And it wasn't. It really wasn't. Steve could do whatever he wanted with whoever he wanted to. And any weird squeezing in Conrad's guts could be passed off as just as a need for snacks post-smoke. It didn't matter. He wouldn't give it attention. "Doesn't mean I can't see the sparks though. Or that anyone else can't see either, if they know what to look for." Conrad added, before his stomach gave a growl. "Fuck, I'm starving."

She handed him a chocolate bar. "Here, I always have one on me."

"Now who's being nice?" he asked, the corners of his eyes crinkling as he spoke, though his smile smoothed as Connie looked at the ground. He wouldn't push her too hard though, offering a shrug, "Well, I'm not gonna twist your arm to try and get with one of the hottest dudes in our school. But I'm not gonna lie and saw I don't see some kinda potential between you and him." Conrad said, before his eyes grew wide at the offered candy, looking at Connie with a face that held the kind of pure joy only the very young or very stoned could manage upon seeing a chocolate bar. "I would fucking propose right now, if I didn't think us basically having the same name would be bogus as fuck." Conrad said, quickly unwrapping the chocolate and taking a large bite from it, groaning as the flavor hit his tongue.

Conrad pried, knowing behind his dark eyes as his lip quirked into a little sideways smirk that seemed to say everything and nothing at once. "What's that all about?" Connie rolled her eyes, despite her face turning red. "Harrington and I? You're joking. That guy's an idiot. I would never date him,"

She stubbed her joint on the ground. "We were talking about my siblings. I've been trying to convince him to babysit my sister and brother, sometimes since I have life."

Connie sat in the empty lot, smoking. She could've gone anywhere else, but Hawkin's was small. And she wasn't smoking any old cigarette. She was smoking a joint, and she was pretty sure that was illegal in the state of Indiana. And even if Hopper knew her well enough, he'd still arrest her. Which sucked. Just then, Connie caught sight of someone staring at her. She sighed. "Please don't tell the police,"

The smell of weed had Conrad doing a double take, as he glanced down at his pocket. Okay, either he REALLY wanted a smoke even worse than he thought, or someone else had beaten him to the lot. Looking around, Conrad easily found the answer to the question, smirking a bit at Connie's request. He plopped down a few feet away from her, pulling out an altoid tin and holding up a roach he'd been saving for the end of the day. "I'd be a pretty big hypocrite to do that. And a moron. Which, you know, I try not to be on days that end in Y." Taking the disposable light blue lighter that also sat in the tin, Conrad lit his own and took a drag, hugging his knees to his chest and looking skyward. "Did that one fucker who keeps returning A Nightmare on Elm Street late get blacklisted yet?" Conrad asked, blowing the smoke away from himself and his unexpected companion.

Connie inhaled too quickly and started coughing. "I'm sorry, what?" she said weakly. Turns out she wasn't the only person in this town who rented out A Nightmare on Elm Street weekly.

Conrad watched Connie cough, taking a moment to let her recompose herself before answering. "There's someone who keeps holding onto A Nightmare on Elm Street for days after it's supposed to be brought in. I keep coming in to get it, and it's never there. It already took it's sweet time getting to the Hawkins location to start with, so now that it's here, I wanna see it again." Conrad explained, before unfolding his legs to instead lay down flat on the lot, motioning towards the sky with the hand holding the roach and he continued to speak. "But I can't. Because of said fucker that I just mentioned." Conrad finished, taking another slow drag before looking at Connie, brown eyes holding a bit of concern. There was a scab over his right eye, mostly healed by now. "You alright? Figured that was just a messy drag, but with all the weird shit that happens, I figure I should ask. Make sure you're not about to croak on me." Conrad said.

"What would you do if you found out who said fucker is?" Connie asked, pretending to be distracted by her joint. Fuck she was getting a headache now.

Conrad turned his gaze more properly to Connie now, a thoughtful frown crossing his lips, "You know, I hadn't thought that far ahead yet, but that's a good question." Conrad said. And for a long moment, the tall brunette said nothing, just starring up at a particular spot in the sky and bringing a hand up to toy at a loose string on the knee of his jeans. "...alright, got it. First, I would say they're a selfish fucker for hogging what might be a new classic of the genre, because that's what they are. Second, I would ask how they keep getting to it so fast. I mean, no one should be able to get it that soon for renewal and avoid the policy shit unless they're literally working for the loca-" Conrad's words dry up in his throat, and his eyes go wide as he stares at Connie. "A man can only appreciate the ending of The Thing and Christine so many times, you know. And I'm not ready to check out Basket Case for a second time. I'm not that hard up just yet."
