Happy July 4th!
AI seems to taking a leading tone in much of the social media commentary I’m receiving on this with quite a few taking the position that AI works simply cannot be “art” — first off, I do not absolutely know if this is a total AI creation but to be honest I truly don’t care.
New technologies and innovations are constantly being developed In our ever changing world, following in the path of our 19th and 20th century ancestors who gave us steam engines, telegraphs, photography, telephones, cars, airplanes, computers, space travel, and the internet, not to mention amazing medical and biotech health solutions. Did we reject those? Heck no, we celebrated and embraced them!
Yes, I love and celebrate our traditional artists and photographers who grace my blog every day, but I can also appreciate AI-generated or influenced art that is good. And I like this piece a lot as it illustrates and recognizes that many of us Americans are downright FAT and damned proud to be that way! In fact, this version of our majestic Lady Liberty is beautiful and sexy as f**k or so this particular fatty thinks …
On the question of AI possibly not being art, I decided to query the all-knowing (or perhaps not knowing) internet and here is the response I received, attributed to the Houston Law Review:
Yes, AI-generated works can be considered art, functioning much like a paintbrush or camera—a tool for human expression. While AI lacks human emotion, the human creator's intent, prompt engineering, and curation transform outputs into meaningful art.
So, sorry for this lengthy edit and please feel free to agree or disagree, as that is everyone’s right and freedom, but this is how I truly feel on the subject!
