I’m so depressed thinking about the canon plotline lmfao I feel very glad that someone asked for the canon divergence au 😭🥲. Like yep birdy and reg are running to find horcruxes while also developing a tender relationship where one is more than friends but something much more than lovers. And at the same time James and Sirius become aurors aka james happily doing his job while sirius tries not to get bored and gets violently assaulted with birdy flashbacks that leave him with his heart on the floor.
I was also thinking of The Moment when sirius and birdy meet when he and James get assigned to find her and reg ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
As in, he’s dead focused on chasing after her with a singular selfish motive that the government most definitely does not have in mind. him and james get stuck in dead ends after dead ends and they fall deeper and deeper into death eater lore and shit etc etc , and along the way they somehow find out ab the existence of the horcruxes and they somehow also vaguely understand that birdy and reg are running away from death eaters.
It’s been a bad day for them both, but they get somewhat closer to a clue they’ve been scouring for and they’re entangled in some riddle and for the first and only time Sirius’ mind thinks of something other than finding birdy because it’s been such a shit day and the sewer they’re in smells worser than ever due to the humid weather and in that same moment while all these thoughts are running through him a voice comes out of nowhere and he whips his head around high on alert and watched the shadow on the wall become a figure only to disappear into a corner and come out again and —

can u imagine. sirius trying go through mundane life after voldemort's death except he's violently assaulted with the memory of birdy in tears after their conversation and he's supposed to pretend to be okay???
