| by lescarnetsdecam

🌞 Sunlight isn’t required here, the glow was woven in centuries ago. In the Yellow Room of the Galleria Doria Pamphilj, luminous tapestries from the famed Gobelins Manufactory cover the walls, showing the allegories of the twelve months set against a rich yellow background that defines the entire space. 🖼️ Around 1795, architect Francesco Bettini redesigned the room for Giuseppe Doria Pamphilj, brother of Andrea IV Doria Pamphilj, adapting earlier late Baroque elements and aligning the wall decoration with the ceiling. Above, Gioacchino Agricola’s Rebecca at the well completes a compact but carefully arranged interior where colour, tapestry, and structure are closely coordinated. | by castleholic

One of my absolute favourites in Paris. It was so good to see it all cleaned and looming magnificent on my last visit. The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, completed in 1808, once marked the ceremonial gateway to the Tuileries Palace — a place where power, art, and ceremony converged at the heart of Paris. Commissioned by Napoleon to celebrate the victories of 1805, its pink marble columns and finely carved bas-reliefs still tell the story of a confident empire. Crowned today by Bosio’s quadriga, the arch carries a quieter elegance than its grander counterpart on the Champs-Élysées — but perhaps more intimacy in its detail. Perfectly aligned along the great Axe Historique, it connects the Louvre to the wider city, a measured line of history and design that feels as deliberate as it is beautiful.

Quai d’Orsay | Stepping inside France’s high diplomacy office - the address of the current Ministry of European & Foreign Affairs has never changed since the mid-nineteenth century. A witness to centuries of diplomacy and change, its elegant façades to its historic salons, these walls have hosted pivotal conversations shaping not only France’s role in the world, but the course of international relations itself | 🇫🇷🇪🇺 @francediplo @gouvernementfr #paris #architecture #histoire #france #diplomacy | by paul_abihayla
