The coolest spot in Queens.
Source: Blakes London
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house…….people were Oooo-ing and Ahhhh-ing over this incredible kitchen by Blakes London!. Envy does cut it. I would possibly maim someone for this (…”kill” felt a little to strong….). It’s a non-kitchen kitchen, if that makes sense. Simply meaning it’s designed to feel like just another room in house rather than a defined kitchen space. Aside from the (rather fabulous) island, most utilities are hidden away behind heavily panelled doors. The combination of ornate and decorative features balanced with the monolithic slab of island blends perfectly. Pretty much my favourite combo.

Love the scale of this storage.
One of our personal favourite entries, Ansty Plum, a 1960s modernist house renovated by London firm Coppin Dockray, has been shortlisted for the 2016 RIBA House of the Year. The home is located in a small village in Wiltshire, England. It was built in 1962 by architect David Levitt – who later went on to establish Levitt Bernstein – and then extended in the early 1970s Brutalist architects Alison and Peter Smithson. “Ansty Plum is a very special 20th century house, resurrected for viable modern living without damaging the spirit or the fabric of the original. In the house what has been taken away, and what has not been added is as important as what has been rescued or retained.”

I love a metallic accent…
and this bathroom has a gorgeous marble and brass combo alongside pale grey cabinetry. I particularly like the tarnished finish of the brass against the marble - that little bit of patina gives this space a more interesting edge.

An inky mood
Isn’t this beautiful? I’m in a real navy mood just now, both in clothing and interiors. I can’t seem to stay away from inky blues. I spotted this image on Pinterest and clicked through to discover that it’s from The Prop Dispensary, which explains this understated and gorgeous styling. If you’re looking for some product styling inspiration, look no further.
This image also feel like winter to me with those layered rich and moody tones. Inspiration for a Monday and for the first week of winter.

I dream of having a cabin
Don’t we all dream of having an escape like this, a cabin in the woods? This is La Quimera House in Chile designed by architects Ruca Proyectos. See the post on ArchDaily.
