Rosh Hashanah, from the Holiday Series. painting by Arthur Szyk, 1948. raised a Polish Jew in Łódź and attached to both his Polish and Jewish identity, Arthur Szyk was heavily influenced by medieval illuminated manuscripts early in his development as an artist. later, he would become most well-known for his political cartoons and illustrations.

com gesto de ninho

quieto, chorando

era o Eterno

algo que não era meu

soando interno

e ver o Divino

tocar assim outro corpo

tece meu destino

no gesto profundo

ver tamanho amor

caber no mundo

me faz chorar

e quem chora manso

vendo o cuidado nascer

é engano ruim ser

pois nessa ternura

minha poesia entende:

o amar costura

tijolos, cerâmica, poeira e portas

madeira de carvalho jamais tão forte

nada é firme ante iminente queda

nem meus pássaros, nem o que é meu

menos ainda essas quatro paredes-lar

contar com Ele que nada caia, a não

ser que seja por minhas próprias mãos

numa prece rogando aniquilação

como sofá e colher, quase litúrgico é:

coloco e retiro, levanto, destruo

a divindidade de perecer natural

passa a soar ser nômade, vagante

e existir ser reformar e ruir sempre.
