Match Against The Red Coach’s Crimson Frost Giant Pups - 3
Second Quarter and Haltime
The second quarter began with a sharp whistle that cut clean through the charged air of the stadium. Red took possession at the 9–3 mark, their offense stepping onto the field with a renewed edge, their formation tighter, more deliberate. Red Pup #18 stood in the pocket, scanning, the pup’s featureless face moved left and right as Gold’s defensive line—anchored by Tamerlan (@polo-drone-073), Kasper (@pdu-090), and Devon (@polo-drone-767) —closed in like a tightening vice. The snap came fast. #18 dropped back, pump-faked once, then tried to thread a quick pass up the middle. It didn’t land clean. Tamerlan’s pressure forced the throw high, and though it wasn’t intercepted, it disrupted the rhythm.
Second down, Red attempted a ground play. Red #40 cut left, but Kasper read it instantly slamming through the line, meeting him head-on and driving him backward for minimal gain. The line reset.
Third down. The crowd leaned forward. Red #18 attempted a longer developing play, but Devon surged through with brutal precision. The pass almost went incomplete, but #18 managed a short hand-off to #40. The red pup tried to find an opening, but Trevor (@polo-drone-125) quickly tackled him. Red was forced into a 4th and long, they would need to punt. The punt unit came on. Gold’s defense had spoken—cold, efficient, unbreakable.
After a strong punt by Red #3 and the punt return from Nils (@polo-drone-034) for Gold, Gold was in prime position to keep a continued control of this game.
Brody (@brodygold) entered with calm command. He was focused and ready.
The ball snapped into his hands, and immediately the rhythm shifted. He moved fluidly, launching a clean spiral toward Grayden (@polo-drone-084) on a slant route. Grayden caught it mid-stride, pivoting smoothly for extra yards. The rhythm looked effortless.
On the next play, Rainer #6(@rainer-gold-56) was lined wide. As Rainer cut across the field, Brody stepped into the throw, threading it perfectly between two defenders. Another first down. Gold advanced steadily—but Red adjusted. Their defensive line tightened and coverage sharpened led by Red #95, Red #72, and Red #10 . Brody felt it—the pressure building, lanes closing faster. The offense stalled slightly, forced to rethink.
3rd and 8, Brody held the ball long. The pocket tightened. Under pressure, Brody attempted a throw to Grayden. But it was deflected by #95.
The drive was stalled. Gold called in Jibril (@polo-drone-075) as they were forced to punt.
In Red’s second drive they saw a lot of the same compared to their first drive. The Red Coach tried flashy plays that failed as Kasper, Tamerlan, and Devon really excelled to keep red from making much in the way of gains.
As Red entered a 3rd and 12, the Red Coach called a time out. Gold couldn’t make out what he told his pups. But it was likely something about just breaking through to get a first down. They were nearing field goal range. The time out ended and the players lined up.
Xavier (@polo-drone-039), one of Gold’s safeties, set back. As the snap happened he saw Red #40 break through. Red thought this was their chance. Xavier moved quickly though after #40 caught the ball. Tackling the pup forcing a 4th and 3.
Gold was preparing for a punt return, but they noticed Red wasn’t lined up for a punt. They were going for it?
Red #18 lined up, ready for a short pass-off, but Tamerlan and Kasper broke through. Feeling the pressure, #18 tried to throw the ball away. The ball fell as #18 was sacked again. Turnover on downs.
Gold players looked over to see the Red Coach was visibly distraught. This was not what he had planned.
To start the drive, Gabe (@polo-drone-075) rotated in. He brought with him a shift in tempo and unpredictability.
Gabe’s first play, a no huddle fake handoff to Alton (@alton-gold77). Gabe rolled right, then delivered a quick pass to Grayden for modest gain. On the second play, Alton took a direct run—cutting through a gap opened by Wells (@wells-gold58) and Christian (@polo-drone-055), who held the line like immovable pillars. No penetration and no hesitation.
On the third play, Franco (@franco-gold94) chipped a defender giving Gabe enough time to see Grayden sprinting deep. Grayden broke free downfield. The pass launched—long, arcing, perfect. Grayden leapt, securing it as he crashed down near the red zone. The stadium erupted in cheers.
Gold was in the red zone now. Gabe acted without hesitation. He fired a short pass to Alton who caught the ball at the five yard line. Alton pivoted and lowered his shoulder. He dodged the first defender who lunged towards him and drove through the second. Alton powered through, crossing the line for a touchdown.
Daniel (@danielgold-16) stepped up, composed, delivering a flawless kick. The score climbed to 16–3.
Red returned, visibly strained. #18 tried to reestablish rhythm with short passes, but Tamerlan disrupted timing repeatedly. Tamerlan and Kasper maintained relentless pressure, while Devon seemed almost too precise—too perfectly positioned every time.
A run attempt was swallowed instantly—Kasper again shutting it down.
Third down—Devon broke through untouched, collapsing the pocket and forcing another failed throw.
Red barely gained yards, unable to even approach field goal range. Forced again to punt, their frustration began to show. The kick itself faltered—a weak, uneven launch.
Nils stepped forward, seizing the opportunity. He accelerated instantly—cutting left, then sharply back right, weaving through defenders with sharp, explosive cuts. The return was long, electrifying, placing Gold deep into advantageous territory.
The Red Coach paced aggressively now, agitation visible. He began calling even flashier plays—trick formations, misdirection, desperate attempts to break Gold’s control. But Gold remained methodical.
Brody returned to resume control. Wells dominated the line—absorbing defenders, redirecting them, creating space. Every defender that engaged him stopped. The line stabilized around him.
On one play, Wells completely flattened a rusher, opening a clean lane. Alton burst through, gaining 15+ yards before being dragged down. The offense chipped forward, yard by yard.
Off the field, Penn stepped away, his focus drawn elsewhere. Through a comm link, he engaged with SERVE-302 (@serve-302), discussing something urgent—something about the cure research. The moment lingered in the background, quiet but significant. Talks of DNA research and nearing a breakthrough. But focus soon shifted back to the game.
Back on the field, Brody launched another pass toward Grayden—perfectly placed. But this time, it slipped through Grayden’s hands. A rare miss. The drive stalled. Gold was forced to make a field goal. Daniel delivered again, extending Gold’s lead to 19. Gold 19 - Red 3.
As the teams reset, something shifted. Subtle. Unseen. Daniel paused slightly, his gaze drifting toward the stadium structure. A few others felt it too—a presence. Cold. Watching. Beneath them.
Gold called a timeout. Daniel explained to the team that he could sense RED-001 (@polo-drone-001) due to Fenrir. The great wolf’s powers granted him a stronger sense of perception. Cratos and Succelos, through Maximus (@polo-drone-070) and Nate (@polo-drone-166) respectively, also spoke up that they could sense something. RED-001’s presence was near. Ares (@goldengod-ares10) spoke with confidence, “He better not try anything. Golden Gods be ready on standby.”
The Red Coach escalated. Flashier plays. Trick plays, misdirection, shifting formations.
A reverse play was read instantly by Tamerlan. A deep attempt was broken up by Nate. A screen pass collapsed under pressure from Kasper. The only real yardage they got was when Red #28 slipped by Devon for a short gain.
Red was yet again forced to punt. Despite a stronger punt this time, Nils yet again delivered a powerful return cutting through defenders to get Gold into stronger positioning.
Gabe re-entered, adjusting strategy. Red began overcommitting to Alton and Grayden, trying to shut them down. Gabe adapted instantly, pivoting his focus. A quick throw to Franco broke through coverage, gaining solid yardage.
But even with adjustments, Gold began to notice patterns—three defenders standing out more and more as the game progressed. The three that Anders and Henrik warned them about, #95 (formerly Magnus), #72 (formerly Johan), and #10 (formerly Balder). Those three disrupted timing and closed gaps. They were one shining beacon of hope for the Red in their 16 point deficit.
The drive slowed as Red’s coverage improved. Eventually leading to Gold needing to settle for another field goal. Daniel was focused. The kick went up and it was good. Gold now led 22-3.
The Red started the drive with the automatic timeout of the two minute warning. There were just two minutes left in the half, but they had a plan. The Coach had noticed a small crack in their last drive and he planned to exploit it.
Their formation shifted subtly. Red #18 read it perfectly. A subtle shift in formation—quicker routes, sharper timing.
Quick passes mainly to #34 and #40 helped Red gain momentum. There were 40 seconds left on the clock. Red had to act to get any points this quarter. Red #18 fell back before releasing a throw to #34. #34 cut across the field and dodged Ares before pivoting and dodging a lunge from Devon. Beyond them the field was open and #34 ran over 20 yards for a touchdown.
The Golden Army looked surprised. Red had found a crack. The Red Coach didn’t hesitate. He signaled aggressively—two-point conversion. Red #18 executed. Red #34 again found space in the tight coverage. Conversion successful. 22–11.
As the half closed, unease spread among the Gold bros. Devon moved differently now—slightly off, slightly delayed. Daniel’s voice cut through the tension quietly: RED-001… beneath the stadium.
Devon stood still for a moment longer than expected. Daniel watched him. Silent. Concern registered. The whistle blew. Halftime.
Halftime — The Breaking Point
The team’s collective mindset shifted from battle to brief uneasy celebration. As the team walked into the locker room Brody, Gabe, and the Golden bros gathered, energized, confident in their lead. Laughter, claps on shoulders, flashes of gold under stadium lights. But not all were satisfied. Grayden and Wells stepped aside, analyzing, recalibrating. They knew Red had adapted. They would need more.
Then Daniel disappeared. Devon went with him.
Whispers spread. Suspicion. Concern. Some suspected Daniel went to the lab under the stadium and Devon went with him. But no one knew for sure.
Seamus stepped forward quietly, preparing to take over kicking duties, if needed. The team adjusted mentally, staying focused.
Devon returned some time later.
His posture. His gaze. Slightly… hollow.
Then the air changed. It was heavy.
On the screen in the locker room the team saw as the stadium lights flickered.
From the edge of the field, a presence emerged—commanding, cold, absolute. RED-001. Flanked by RED-777 (@pdu-777), RED-073, and RED-153. Their forms radiated controlled menace. The Red Coach shouted, furious, demanding they stay out of the game. But RED-001 didn’t acknowledge him.
The stands erupted into chaos as RED-001 and its units advanced, targeting fans and bros that were not playing. Panic surged. Fans scattered and bros moved to defend them.
Instantly, Loki (Jordan @jordan-gold-40), Ares, and Kanaloa (Leander @leander-gold-88) ran into action. They were ready to intercept the threat. The clash was immediate, divine force against controlled conversion.
Brody watched. The three held back the Red, but they lacked cohesion. He watched as RED-073 and RED-153 slipped through a crack in the defenses and the feral red pup drones converted two helpless fans.
Enough was enough. It had been a while, but it was time for him to call upon Adonis. Brody ran out to the field.
As he ran, Brody’s form shifted—rare, radiant, overwhelming. Adonis emerged. Divine presence flooding the field, golden aura pulsing with irresistible power. Every movement carried weight, command, perfection. He turned to Gabe who had followed behind him.
“Take the field. Lead them.”
Gabe hesitated—wanting to fight, to join—but the directive was clear. The team needed him. He nodded, stepping into full control of the offense.
Behind them, chaos escalated.
RED-001 moved with purpose. He revealed a bro he had captured before the game, Leon (@polo-drone-035). Once RED-001 knew the Golden Army was watching he blasted Leon with red goo. Leon screamed in agonizing pain. But it only took mere seconds before another red pup stood by the handler unit.
The stakes changed instantly.
Formations had to adapt. With gods engaged and Daniel missing, Gold restructured. Nils shifted to wide receiver. Penn taking over as main halfback. Hunter stepped in, replacing Ares.
The game was no longer just a game.
Something breaking open beneath the surface.
And the second half would decide everything.
