Soccer with my favorite somebunny, AND volleyball AND wiffle ball with my other favorite people?? Favorite Easter pastimes, by far. 🥅⚽️🏐⚾️💧📢🤾‍♀️No better way to celebrate the inherent joy the holiday brings -- and burn off the chocolate and cookies that come with it! It felt so amazing to reflect over the miraculous moments of Easter Sunday. It was pretty indescribable to consider God's gifts and blessings for our future, but also, for our present! There's a lot to look forward to, but lots to be enjoyed in the here and now! 🐣 🍬🍫🐰🌷🌸🌟⛪️ What a puzzling thing it is to live in the tension of what is now and what is to come; to maintain a focus on both, without dwelling too much on one or the other. Such a curious thing it is to be alive! ✨🌈🌤💐🌼🌻♥️

I visited my parents today in Anaheim, and did some writing in my old bedroom. And as I was leaving, just as I stepped outside, the Disneyland firework show began. ✨💥✨💫 I stood by, watched for a few minutes, and felt a deep thankfulness and vague sadness burn in my chest. In a time of so much anger and violence and confusion, I'm grateful to have known a time, a neighborhood, a childhood that bore some semblance of stability and consistency. 🌳🏘🌎🌻Where my family ate together most nights in our home, free of concern or persecution or hunger. Where I could walk to school with my sister, wearing my favorite yellow backpack, and get an education. Where every night, the sky danced with fire and magic, and if we were good, my parents would let us stay up and watch the whole thing from our window, before bed. 🌔🛌🕰🎆 I'll never know why God chose to put me in Anaheim, CA, with the story I was and am privileged to live. I know nothing will be helped by my fervent queries, necessarily. I guess now, more than ever, I just want make sure that I savor all of the good around me, and,do my best to alleviate the bad. 🕘💭📢📝By speaking kindness to others. By pointing out the simple pleasures. By praying regularly, both celebrating and mourning/imploring. By doing better at loving my world. 🇺🇸🇹🇿🏳️‍🌈🇲🇽🇸🇾Maybe God blessed me with nightly firework shows, safety, and innocence back then, so I could afford the energy, emotion and heartache later. This sister of mine. And our adventures and love and fights and passions and problems and solutions and ideas and history and future. Always down to jump in the car and see something new and exciting, so matter the miles. Or find dresses at a thrift store for five dollars and plan a grown-up dress up party. Or hatch a plan to go tarantula-hunting in the desert for extra cash. 🚗🏔🗺🕷👗✨💕 Our relationship wasn't always sunshine and unicorns. As kids, we fought like cats and dogs. She stuffed me into the dryer and turned it on. I told her she had cancer and made her cry. As adults, we still have our differences, but they're discussed with an established, passionate love for one another -- sans large appliances. 😉🎛💥✨She's my perfect foil, teammate, cheerleader and friend. Don't know where I'd be without her pushing me out of the boat into bigger and better things, time and time again. I'm her biggest fan, and love her tough, beautiful self to bits. His response was a word I'd never heard before -- still a delightfully frequent occurrence. "A primatologist," he said. "Someone who studies primates." And he wasn't kidding. Boy knows more about apes and monkeys than anyone I've ever met, outside of an actual zoologist. (Ask him anything about any species, and his enthusiastic wealth of knowledge will astound you!) 🌱🍌🐒🌏🦍📚 One of his very favorites is the incredibly endangered Gibbon. So yesterday, for his birthday, I surprised him with a visit to the Gibbon Conservation Center in Santa Clarita. Thankfully, the rain held out just long enough for us to see the whole thing! ☁️⛈💦🌫 It was an amazing experience, watching them swing and eat and even sing! Definitely recommend a visit to this special little place. It's easy for me to get cynical about animal conservation, when there are so many humans (and animals) in need all around the world, but centers like this serve as a great reminder that everyone needs everyone. 🌎💙🌍💙🌏 I was proud my guy for having space in his heart for these unique creatures. Maybe if we all picked an animal, cause, and people group to sponsor, share about, or even pray for, the world would shine a little bit brighter. ☁️🌈☀️✨💫 Because it certainly did at the Gibbon Center. 🐵 (at Gibbon Conservation Center)

This ginger swag dragon was at the LA #womensmarch today. Even though I didn't necessarily love the idea of him going (mostly 'cuz I didn't think it'd be safe), it didn't surprise me. His love and passion for any disenfranchised, underprivileged creature is so fierce and tender at the same time. While the demands of today were varied, vast, and slightly abstract, I think I understand better now. Today wasn't about opposing one thing. It was about declaring support for and celebrating many good, beautiful things. 💜✨💫 G and I don't see eye to eye on every issue, but we both are intensely certain all people should be loved and respected. And that means more to me than agreeing on every single thing -- the nuts and bolts of it just look different sometimes. I'm proud to know and love him, and I'm counting my blessings. We live in a country where this kind of a peaceful demonstration was in fact possible! ♥️🌎🦅🇺🇸📜Loving your neighbor doesn't mean agreeing all the time; disagreements and dissenting opinions actually make the world richer, not poorer. I think part of being human means figuring out what it means to coexist without neutralizing truth. Earnestly seek truth, and you will find it -- but live it out with humility. Back when #inthesilenceoc was just starting out, we played just to bless people. No rates, no hourly minimum, no bills or contracts -- just the four of us girls in a homeless shelter or convalescent home performing. Sometimes I wish things were easier and adulting was $impler , and we could just go back to playing music for nothing but the joy of warmed hearts, teary smiles, and peace-filled spirits. If you give Corrin a rainy day creative meeting at a hip coffee joint with media movers @inlesthannotime and @daysinla, she'll probably ask for earl grey tea and cranberry bread. 🐭🍪🥛 And if you give her all the tea, she'll probably need to use the restroom at some point. And on the way there, she'll probably take a photo of the astronaut in the hallway that reminds her of the Blue Like Jazz film, or Adam (2009), or actual astronauts I guess. G and I had a glorious adventure on Friday, which resulted in us experiencing two of the best things (ice cream and book stores) after experiencing two of what should be the worst things (parking in downtown LA and getting lost). 🚦🚗🌃🚧🗺 In our lost wandering, we stumbled upon @thelastbookstorela (We'd never been!), where we happened to find the very novel we've been trying to read together! He got his preferred paperback, and I got my hardback, and we skipped away like it was Merry Christmas over to @mcconnellsicecreams. ✨📚💖🍨George read the prologue outloud, while I finished the last of my Boysenberry Rosé Milk Jam ice cream -- which was totally delicious and not as weird as it sounded. We learned of this book from a @realrobbell podcast with Elizabeth Gilbert, and were intrigued by his enthusiasm about it. 🎙💻📻🎛💜💡The epic novel apparently follows a female botanist on a whaling ship adventure, seeking the answer to this question: Why are people kind? Why do people do things that are greater than themselves, that don't immediately benefit them? 🌿🌱💦🌊🐋⛵️🌳🍃📖📝 An adventure in an adventure in an adventure was Friday. (at Grand Central Market)

A card from an antique children's rummy card game. I picked it up and immediately imagined it tattooed on my body. I then quickly dismissed the thought, but still picked up the card to inspect it closely. 🖍🖌✏️✒️ Last weekend, G and I spent a morning together visiting some old favorite places, and one of those was somewhere I used to work. What was previously @ohfshop is now @found_home, but oh, what a glorious thing it still is. Lots of trinkets and stationary, yes, but furniture and antiques and treasures of all sizes and shapes also now call it home. It was such a delight to be able to survey the vast assortment of items, their stories and their smells, and recall the beautiful season I got to spend here as an employee. ✨🌈☁️ We smelled all the candles and wanted all of the things. I love the chapter of my life that included trade shows and parties and shop shifts under the @ohhellofriend brand. Something truly special about the hearts and minds it attracts. It's the second Tuesday of 2017! Are you having fun yet?? // Remembering good times with my beautiful friends and fam in the Bay Area -- such beautiful people with beautiful ideas and dance moves and passions. And BIG hearts. Sometimes New Years means fancy cocktails on a rooftop, and sometimes it means busting a move with your ten-year-old cousin to Madonna's "Like A Prayer." This was by far one of the best, craziest New Year's parties I've ever had the pleasure of attending. Games and relays and dancing and throwing poppers on the wood floors!! Tortured Artist Face: a tribute to the dreamers and dancers we fell for in La La Land. 💃🏻🎶📽🎞// We went to an old favorite place, and for the first time in many months, I had the desire to talk through the hero's journey. We pulled up the twelve parts, and went through each beat of the beautiful film with our screenwriter caps on. 📋🔍💛📝 Even though we both studied screenwriting, we rarely talk about it so structurally. People warn against critically reviewing your favorite films, but I quite enjoy it. I like to open up the engine and study all of the moving parts. For some, to deconstruct magnificence is to negate its mystery, but I don't think that always applies. Sometimes a deeper intimacy magnifies the magic, and the wonder and amazement is heightened, somehow. I would imagine this somehow applies to relationships as well, but I didn't major in those... 😉✨🌃🌠📘Thanks Gypsy Den, for feeding our creativity in more ways than one, and providing a space for this surgical yet sacred conversation. 💙 #hmsfearlesss (at Gypsy Den)
