Montana trip 2015
I wonder what meaning can be derived from book titles like: Dubliners, To the Lighthouse, White Fang as one views them objectively. All seared into my memory as something I must reference, especially mid conversation, a slip inappropriately inserted mid, “hello.” Godard sees titles as more, as feeling, as communication away from what lies within the book. A favorite movie and a great scene. (via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-BK0XiXfPU)
Rez for my uncles funeral.
These are the music vids that had us exercising the "Replay" button on YouTube all year long. Good tunes and great visuals. Doesn't take much more than that. 5. I suck at curating music because i choose music I like. Now, granted, that normally will suffice if i had good taste, which i don't. I would play Dolly Parton and Johnny Denver all day. Eight songs, straight country and most would be “Thank God I’m a country boy”, which I'm not. So I let other people pick fun shit and I repost. What Youth tickled my strings with great picks. Coo Coo. Give er a listen.

Fuck cookies. Women made bombs. Punched their time at the factory. And still raised children.
Found The Dillards album in the garage. Sweet find and great sound.
I wanted to pitch the newest Real Axe video posted on Stab but they had restrictions on video content. That’s fine. Don't worry about it, i’m not worried about it. It’s cool. I won't say it’s the best surf edit released in the past month, and that Toby Cregan’s films are becoming complex and sharp, or that Creed Mctaggart rips terribly fast barrels on WA coast with the perpetually injured Beau Foster, and fun shaper Ellis Ericson. You don't need to know that mind surfing along with this rag tag bunch is fantastically fun and just watching the videos makes me feel hip. Oh well. Find out for yourself.
p.s. If you haven’t already, watch Creeds segment in Cluster. My personal favorite of the film.

Buying tools is fun. Wrenching your way through an ideologically perfect project is exciting until you get inside an engine and it looks like a Jawa flea market threw up all its spare parts into your whip. Luckily, digging around a tool box will be forever shortened with this sweet little tool roll by the Motorcycle/Surf/ Skate company Iron and Resin , they have your back. Based on their specs: waxed canvas, leather, and zippers, etc., all your essentials will be in one spot. Swoon at the projects, and happy wrenching.

Mick Fanning getting attacked by that shark was the craziest thing I have ever missed. I had spent half my night dozing in and out of sleep trying to stay awake for the finals of the Jay Bay Open. The closest I got was the Semis.
After a couple more hours of sleep and a quick nod off, i turned to my webcast to the screen telling me “thanks for watching” (or something close to that). Confused, i tried to reload my webpage thinking it was a glitch. Frustrated and closing in on being late for work I left perturbed. Once at work I checked my Instagram. Not more than three accounts down in my feed i find the video of Mick being attacked by that shark. I couldn't believe it. My first reaction wasn't “holy shit, i hope he is okay”, but “damn, I missed it.”
Hopefully my reaction isn’t too scummy. Even so, isn’t this why people watch these types of events? Watching professional surfers defy previous paradigms of surf progression launching themselves over the ledge at Cloudbreak? We want to see amazing television. We want to see people at the brink of destruction.
Nobody sums it up better than Dave Chappelle (video above). We go to the show hoping this may be the day that the tiger bites the trainers neck. For viewers, that tiger wasn't a tiger shake but a Great White ( or at least we think so based on geographic tendencies).
Glad Mick is okay. To the next event and keep your tips up.

Why Jay Davies is Awful.
You know when you write something down and you know from the moment your pen touches paper, or finger on key, that what you write is always going to be wrong? This is that moment (in the title). Jay Davies isn’t awful. Far from it.
I can’t recall the first edit I watched. Perhaps it was Ferrari Boyz--filmed by the talented Toby Cregan (whom just released his feature Nix Nix Nooley) or just a random video found on Youtube. No matter. His edits are insane. I can never tell which part of his edits I like more, the surfing or his words. He is wise on the world. And the world pays him handsomely by providing dangerously beautiful draining rights for us to gawk.
Close your mouth.
Or not.
Some can help themselves. I can't.
Spend some time online to watch his edits. Do it. Like now. Maybe later? Please?
No matter.
