hello  munchkins  !  i’m  jane  &  this   is  my  daughter  cory  .   just  as  i  opened  this  to  write  her  intro  it  literally  started  to  stink  of  skunk  &  if  that’s  not  the  most  cory  thing  ever  idk what is  !  basically  she’s  trash  ok ?  more  info  under  the  cut  .

her dad was out of the picture before cordelia could even learn his name  .  however  ,  that didn’t keep her mom from parading a long string of men in and out of their trailer  .

she has 3 younger half-siblings  .  just picture an 12 year old girl juggling to somehow make scrambled eggs and change her newest sibling’s diaper at the same time before walking everyone to school  /  to whoever neighbour she could convince to babysit that day  .

her mom was either out and about  ,  high or sleep  .  those were the only options  .

her only outlet was writing songs  .  with an old guitar she doesn’t know where her mom got from  ,  she’d make up songs to entertain her siblings or to pass the time  .  she’d write jingles and send them to music companies and literally anyone who would listen  .

when she was 14 one of her jingles was picked for a disney show and she was thrilled because it was a paycheck and before she could realize her mom had already spend it in drugs  .  that was the last drop before she pulled that kid stunt of packing her shit and leaving  ,  except that unlike most  ,  cory didn’t go back that night  .

she was literally homeless for a while  ,  but she kept writing because that bit of reassurance made her feel like she was good at something  .  so she kept sending demos whenever she could  ,  upgrading from being homeless to couch surfing until she started building a name for herself as a songwriter  .

her vc is julia michaels  ,  so basically she really just started somehow working with huge names in the industry  ,  writing is her life  .  she didn’t try singing her own stuff until a few months ago and she was not ready for it  .

everyone was eating up the whole ‘writer extraordinaire finally singing her own stuff’  but the attention was overwhelming to say the least  .  and this basically where she’s at right now  ,  trying to deal with suddenly having enough money to pay for a place of her own and people for some reason caring about her life  .

she doesn’t like talking about her family  ,  even when it’s not exactly a secret that she comes from nothing  ,  the extend of her family situation is not one she’s interested in sharing with people  .  she still looks after her siblings  ,  just not from home  .

her aesthetic is wearing a summer dress under an oversized sweater or jacket  ,  untamed hair and boots or sneakers  .  she’s pretty much always biting on her nails or peeling off her nail polish  .

she has a cat named cookie dough who doesn’t like her at all  ?  she’s pretty much always scratched and calls him the spawn  .

i feel like i had more information on her but i’ll just leave it here before listing some connection ideas:

give me a lady and the tramp reverse kinda mess lol bc she’s literal trash  ,  and i want her to be crushed by the weight of expectations and prejudice from a wealthy family who hopefully tore her into pieces :) i’ll give you my the soul of my first child if it’s a ‘the one that got away’ kind of situation

a writing partner  :  the one person who gets her voice memos with a little text like ‘what do you think?’ could stay up till 5am working on one song after the other just bouncing off each other

give me two people who had a #moment and for whatever unspoken reason decided not to do anything about it and are probably now trying to act like absolutely nothing happened but can only think about That

a mom / dad friend  ,  someone who for some reason just have this feeling they need to take care of cory  ,  which she highkey hates and lowkey loves because she really has been taking care of others her whole life  .  probably someone who pushed her to get her own damn place once she actually had enough money for it  .

give me a friend who gives her that rom-com  glow-up montage moment  ,  cory doesn’t know the concept of brushing your hair every day unless someone forces to it so give me that pls

people she has written songs for / with  .  people she doesn’t get along with  .  people who have let her crash on their couch when she was going through it
